Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs to register their only second victory of the IPL 2024 campaign at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Opting to bat, RCB rode on Virat Kohli's steady 43-ball 51, a quickfire 20-ball 50 from Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green's 20-ball 37 not out to post 206 for seven in their 20 overs. SRH got off to a solid start but the RCB bowlers did well today and scalped the wickets on crucial occasions to restrict them to 171.

Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first which favoured them completely. Faf and Virat got off to a great start, adding 48 runs for the first wicket under the first 4 overs. Du Plessis scored 25 runs in only 12 deliveries before Natarajan picked up his wicket. Virat took time to settle in but Will Jacks lost his wicket and the pressure was once again upon the shoulders of the former RCB skipper.

But, this time Rajat Patidar took the responsibility and went on to play a sensational knock. He played a knock of 50 runs in just 20 deliveries, hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours before Unadkat dismissed him. Virat took too much time and ultimately lost his wicket scoring 51 runs after facing 43 deliveries. Cameron Green did score runs today and it proved to be the difference. He remained not out until the end and contributed with 37 runs in 20 deliveries.

Pat Cummins was expensive, conceding 55 runs in 4 overs but Jaydev Unadkat bowled well and scalped 3 crucial wickets. RCB could have scored more but SRH got some wickets at the death. Bangalore put 206 runs on the scoreboard, losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Will Jacks bowled the first over and dismissed the dangerous left-handed batter Travis Head. It was a huge wicket but Abhishek Sharma tried to knock off the pressure with the help of some big hits. But, Yash Dayal scalped his wicket and it was enough to put pressure upon the SRH middle-order batters.

Aiden Markram couldn't score much and the same happened with Nitish Kumar Reddy too. Both failed to keep SRH in the chase. Heinrich Klaasen came and struck a huge six but Swapnil Singh trapped the dangerous batter. Pat Cummins played a good cameo in the middle, scoring 31 in just 15 deliveries but it wasn't enough.

Shahbaz Ahmed remained not out till the end, scoring 40 runs. The lower-order batters couldn't add much and SRH could only manage to put up 171 runs on the scoreboard. For RCB, Yash Dayal bowled a brilliant 3-over spell, conceding only 18 runs against an in-form batting unit of Hyderabad. Mohammed Siraj is another bowler who shined with his 4-over spell. Karn Sharma picked up two wickets and conceded only 29 runs in his spell.
