Rahul Dravid stepped down as RCB's captain before IPL 2009. He continued to play for his home franchise for next two years. RCB released Dravid before IPL 2011 mega-auction. He played for Rajasthan Royals from IPL 2011 to 2013.

Kevin Pietersen

He captained RCB in only six matches in IPL 2009. The Bengaluru-based franchise only managed 2 wins under him. Pietersen remained part of RCB till IPL 2010.

Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble replaced Kevin Pietersen as RCB's captain during IPL 2009 and led the team to the final of the season. Kumble backed a young Virat Kohli. Anil led RCB lost to Deccan Charges in the IPL 2009 final.

Anil Kumble continued to lead RCB in IPL 2010. The legendary spinner finished his IPL captaincy career with 19 wins from 35 matches. He took over as the chief mentor of RCB in 2011.

Daniel Vettori

Daniel Vettori captained Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2011 and 2012. RCB managed 15 wins from 28 matches under him. Vettori joined RCB as their coach after his retirement. He was sacked from his position after IPL .

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis joined RCB in IPL 2022 mega auction and was named their captain. He led RCB to the second round of IPL 2022. Faf continues to lead RCB and Kohli plays under him.
