5 Indian stars from 2023 World Cup who are likely to play 2027 World Cup

Virat Kohli

2011 World Cup-winner Virat Kohli joined a rare list of Indian players to play 2 world cup finals. He missed the chance to become the first Indian (alongside R Ashwin) to win 2 ODI World Cups despite winning the Player of Tournament.

Virat Kohli will be 38 by the time in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2021 comes around. while he is the fittest player in the World cricket, it remains to see if Virat Kohli want to play for four more years.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit is arguably the greatest ODI player to never win the ODI World Cup. Rohit's perfect redemptions story to win the World Cup as captain after missing out in 2011 fell short at the last stage.

Rohit Sharma will be almost 40 by the time the 2027 World Cup comes around. While MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar played World Cups at the age of 38, his playing in 2027 seems an unlikely task.

Ravichandra Ashwin

Ravichandra Ashwin played just one match in the 2023 World Cup but could have been the first Indian, alongside Virat Kohli to win the trophy twice having won the trophy in 2011.

He has been largely out of the scheme of things in white-ball cricket in the last few years and at 37, there is next to no chance of him making in the squad in 2027.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami had a tournament for the ages as he took 24 wickets in just seven matches. Shami is India's highest wicket-taken in the history of the ODI world cup.

Shami has never won the ODI World Cup title and, in fact does not have an ICC trophy to his name. He is 33 at the moment and will be 37 when the 2021 edition comes making it unlikely for him to take part.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja had a sensational campaign with 16 wickets which is the most by an Indian spinner in a single edition. He missed out on the squad in 2011 but played in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

Ravindra Jadeja is yet to win the ODI World Cup title but will be 38 at the time of 2027 World Cup. As an all-format player who is injury-prone, it remains to be seen if he is still playing at that time.
