YUVRAJ SINGH

Yuvraj Singh played 40 tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is but never got a chance to lead Team India. He was one of the most-deserving candidates for the top job but he missed out

As per Yuvraj Singh, he was expecting to be named the captain of 2007 T20 world cup team. The selectors decided to hand the job to MS Dhoni.

RAVICHANDRA ASHWIN

R Ashwin is still an active player but it's now clear that he won't be named the captain of India. He hasn't been considered for vice-captaincy despite being India's best spinner.

He has been India's top spinner in the home conditions, he was the leader of India's spin attack across all formats. Ashwin is now Test specialist and will retire with captaincy.

HARBHAJAN SINGH

Before Ashwin, Harbhajan was the leader of India's spin attack in all 3 formats. A two-time World Cup winner, he always delivered on big stages but he never captained the team.

In 2011, he was appointed as the vice-captain of the ODI team for the away series against West Indies. He featured in 103 Test, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is.

VVS LAXMAN

He was the only member of Team India's Fab four who never captained the Test Team. Laxman was regular in the Test squad and played a key role in the team's success.

VVS LAXMAN

In 2006, he was appointed as the vice-captain of the Team. He never played 50-over World Cup and played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs. The star is now the chief of the National Cricket Academy.
