The Asian Cup format allows two top teams from six groups and four best third-placed sides to take part in last 16.
With Australia and Uzbekistan already earning 6 and 4 points each and only one match left, India can only reach third spot.
However, to finish third, India will need to bet Syria as the West Asian side has one point from two matches. Even a win may not be enough as they will also need to finish in the top four third-placed teams.
