Top Indian players who have not played a T20I in 2023

Rohit Sharma

Rohit has not played a single T20I since the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup. He is still the official all-format captain of Team India. There is no official word on Rohit's T20I future yet.

A clear word on Rohit Sharma's T20I future should be out when the selectors name the squad for the South Africa series. As of now, he is still active T20I player and could very well Team India in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli

Like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli too hasn't played a T20I in 2023. He last represented the Men in Blue in the shortest format in the 2022 T20 World Cup. With an eye on the ODI World Cup, Virat didn't play any T20I for complete one year.

Virat Kohli is one of the fittest players in World cricket and can very well continue to play all three formats. With a T20 World Cup next year, Virat can priorities T20I cricket and take break from ODIs. The fans will have to wait till the team announcement for the SA tour.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul was Rohit Sharma's deputy in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The semi-final game against England remains his last T20I fixture for the Men in Blue. He made his comeback during the Asia Cup and also excelled in the World Cup. He is likely to make his T20I comeback for the South Africa tour.

Mohammed Shami

He was consistently ignored the road to the 2022 T20 World Cup. But the selectors were forced to hand him a recall just before the ICC event and Shami flew to Australia. He hasn't played a T20I since then.

Shamis's performances on big stages and his wicket-taking skills make him an indispensable member of the team. He could very well make his comeback in the T20I team ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was part of the 2022 T20 World Cup squad and also toured New Zealand after the ICC event. The right-arm pacer hasn't represented Team India in any format in 2023. His absence from the national team has been a big surprise.
