The 23-year became the New Zealand's youngest world cup centurion when he smashed 132 off 96 balls in the tournament opener, against England in Ahmedabad.
Ravindra's was an innings of impudence- he raced to his fifty off 36 balls, taking the game away from England.
Ravindra's parents were born in Bengaluru and were massive cricket fans, in particular of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. His father, Ravi Krishnamurthy was a club cricketer and played alongside Javagal Srinath.
Ravindra showed a passion for cricket as young as age five. By 16, he was playing at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. In 2018, U-19 World at home, he was New Zealand's highest wicket-taker and third highest run-getter.
After impressive performances for New Zealand A, Rachin made his New Zealand senior debut in September 2021 in Bangladesh, where he took six wickets in five T20Is.
A couple of months later, he made his Test debut and kept out 91 balls batting with the tail in the fourth innings to earn New Zealand an improbable draw.
Rachin had to wait till 2023 to make his ODI debut and only came into consideration for World Cup because Micheal Bracewell got injured.
Rachin was not expected to start in XI but he smashed 97 off 72 in the warm-up match against Pakistan, he was given the injured Kane Williamson's No.3 spot against England.

After his first century, Rachin said that he was especially happy to score his international hundred in India. He also hit his 3rd ODI World Cup century in the city where he was born.
Against Pakistan, Rachin Ravindra scored 103 off 94 including fifteen boundaries and one six.
