Arjun Babuta wins Gold in 10-meter air rifle at ISSF Shooting World Cup

Arjun Babuta, a 23-year old has brought gold for India at the ISSF Shooting World Cup after defeating Lukas Kozeneski by 17-9.

India's Arjun Babuta has won gold in the 10m air rifle category at ISSF Shooting World Cup. The young Indian shooter has defeated Lukas Kozeneski of the United States by 17-9. Apart from Arjun, Paarth Makhija, another Indian who reached the final, has finished fourth.

The two Indian's qualified for the finals earlier on Sunday. Arjun Babuta finished second with a score of 630.5. On the other hand, Paarth finished fifth with a score of 628.4. The another Indian shooter in the men's 10m Air Rifle event, Shahu Tushar shot 624.4 to finish 30th.

Sergey Richter, a Veteran Israeli shooter has lead with a score of 631.6. The other five qualifying spots were divided into the shooters from Australia, Austria, Korea, Thailand and the USA in the Shooting World Cup.

India's Divyansh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan won gold in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Delhi last year. Earlier the Indian National team including Yashwini Singh, Manu Vaker and Sri Nivedita Paramanantham won gold in the 10m Air Pistol team event by defeating Poland 16-6. As well as, men's team also won gold in the 10m Air Pistol event, beating Vietnam 16-11. Arjun Babuta has maintained the trend with his brilliant performance and has brought gold again for India.

But unfortunately, in the women's 10m Rifle event, no one could make to the finals this year. Senior debutant Ramita shot 627.4 to finish 17th while former world No.1 and Olympian Elavenil Valarivan finished 24th with a score of 626.3.

Like cricket and football, shooting is now one of the most popular sports in India. A lot of talent is coming up every year. They are also performing on the world stage, Arjun is one of them.
