The Covid-19 pandemic is taking a toll on the entire world since 2020. Despite that, 2021 proved to be quite remarkable for the sporting fraternity. Starting from Olympics to World Cup matches, 2021 witnessed everything. Talking about this year, the sports world also has some major sporting events in 2022. Here are the details of all the major sporting events in 2022 to look forward to.

Cricket:

  • India and South Africa will be continuing the India tour of South Africa, which started on 26 December 2021. The 3-match Test series will continue till 23 January 2022. Also, today starts the 2nd match of the series.
  • West Indies will host the ICC Women's ODI World Cup in New Zealand from 15 January 2022. Yash Dhull is the captain of the Indian team.
  • New Zealand is going to host the ICC Women's ODI World Cup from 4 March 2022. Due to the Covid-19, this tournamnet got postponed for a year.
  • Then comes the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, starting from 16 October 2022. The dending champions, Australia are going to host the marquee tournament.

Football:

  • AFC Asian Women's Cup will start from 20 January 2022 and will continue till 6 February 2022. AFter 1979, this will be the first time ndia will host such a prestigeous tournament. It will definitely be a great step for the women's football in India.
  • 11 October 2022 will kick-start FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in India. This even wa supposed to take place in 2021, but got postponed due to Covid-19.
  • The next tournament is FIFA Men's World Cup, to be hosted in Qatar.

Multisports:

  • 2022 Winter Olympics will be hosted in Beijing starting from 4 February 2022. The Indian skier Arif Khan became the 1st Indian to qualify in 2 events: Slalom and Giant Slalom. He is definitely participating in the Olympics and he is the one to look out for.
  • Birmingham, England will host Commonwealth Games from 28 July 2022. Shooting is not a part of the competition this year and this is definitely a setback for India.
  • Hangzhou, China is hosting the Asian Games from 10 September 2022. India was at its best this tournament's 2018 edition. A better and amazing performnce is surely expected rom them.

Athletics:

  • IAAF World Championships will take place in Eugene, USA from 15 July 2022. Unfortunately, this important tournament had to postpone because of the pandemic.

Hockey:

  • Spain and The Netherlands are hosting the FIH Women's World Cup from 1 July 2022. The Indian women's hockey team was at their best at the Tokyo Olympics and secured the fourth position.

Swimming:

Fukuoka, Japan is the host of the FINA World Aquatics Championship this year. Under the same umbrella, this event will see competitions in swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo.
