Three young grandmasters from India will take on the best of chess, including world number one Magnus Carlsen, at the Tata Steel Masters tournament here in January 2023.

An impressive Indian trio of 19-year-old Arjun Erigaisi, 17-year-old R Praggnanandhaa and 16-year-old D Gukesh are among the 14 players who will take part in the tournament. The tournament will start from January 13 to 29 in January 2023, was announced on Tuesday. All the three Indian players have been in excellent form this year and have won over Carlsen on several occasions.

Erigaisi, who won the Challengers Category title at the Tata Steel Masters tournament earlier this year, confirmed his place in the Masters category with his impressive performance. Anish Giri and Jorden van Foreest will represent the host nation.
