Punjab boxers Suvidha Bhagat and Komal produced impressive performances to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the 6th Elite Women's National Boxing Championships 2022 in Bhopal on Wednesday.

Suvidha defeated Jharkhand's Chandu 5-0 in the 48kg category. While Komal, who lost to Anamika in the 50kg final last year to miss out on a gold medal, outboxed P Tanuja of Chhattisgarh in the Round of 32 and won after the referee stopped the contest (RSC).

Haryana's Preeti also surprised everyone by defeating world championship bronze medalist Jamuna Boro in the Women's National Boxing Championships 2022. In the preliminary round of 54kg, Preeti won her bout to make it to the pre-quarterfinals. Preeti performs brilliantly to defeat Jamuna. In the third, the referee had to stop the match and Preeti had to be declared the winner.

On the other hand, local boxer Radha Patidar easily defeated Himachal Pradesh's Ritu in the 52kg category. Hetal Dama of Gujarat joined her in the next round of the same division. At the same time, Monika Malik (48kg), Rajni Singh (48kg), Isha Thakur (50kg), Kampi Boro (50kg), Hetal Dama (52kg), and Gayatri Kasnyal (54kg) also won their bouts on Wednesday. On Tuesday, world Championships bronze medallist Simranjit Kaur, Railways' Manju Rani, and Saweety Boora of Haryana also won their opening bouts.

Representing Assam, Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) will take on Odisha's Puja Nayak in the round of 16 on Friday. While reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen will step into the ring today. She will take on Meghalaya's Eva Marbaniang in the 50kg pre-quarterfinals.
