World Athletics Championships 2022: Tajinderpal Singh Toor injured and out of Commonwealth Games too

Tajinderpaul Singh had injured his groin four days before the World Athletics Championships 2022. He will miss the Commonwealth Games too.

Tajinderpal Singh Toor, India's lone short putter at the World Athletics Championships 2022 had to withdraw due to a groin injury in Oregon, USA. Not only that, Tajinderpal who was part of the 36-member Athletics team for the Birmingham Games, will not be able to take part too. He had injured himself while practising just four days before the World Athletics Championships 2022.

Tajinderpal did not have a great Tokyo Olympics as well as he could not qualify for the finals of the Olympics. The 27-year-old shot putter had an injured wrist and was not at his best during the tournament.

Moreover, the bad form and luck of Tajinderpal Singh Toor continued as he was not able to cross the standard mark of 20.50m set by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). This season he was able to cross the 20-meter mark only once. Although, that throw of 20.34m at the National Inter-State Championship was far away from his personal best of 21.49m.

"Today was a hard day for me. I couldn't perform as I intended. Injuries have been continuously encompassing me. Last year, it was my wrist and now it's thigh. Just four days before the competition my groin muscle was pulled and it greatly affected my performance," Tajinderpla told Olympics Channel after the withdrawal.

The current Asian Champion tried a few practice shots before announcing that he will not be able to take any part in the championships due to an adductor injury.

India's campaign at the Commonwealth Games will start on 28th July and finish on 8th July.
