In the final group stage match of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2023, the Indian badminton team defeated the reigning Commonwealth Games 2022 champions Malaysia 4-1 in Dubai on Thursday. With this win, the Indian team sealed their place at the top of Group B. Earlier, India had defeated Kazakhstan and UAE. At the same time, the Malaysian team finished second in Group B with 2 wins in 3 matches.
Meanwhile, in men's singles, top Indian shuttler HS Prannoy defeated world number 4 Lee Zii Jia 18-21, 21-13, 25-23. In the first game of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, both the players gave a tough fight to each other. But, the Malaysian shuttler grabbed the lead thanks to his superb shot. After this, Prannoy scored consecutive points to level the scores at 17-17. But, his opponent won the game 21-18. In the second game, the Indian shuttler started well and took the game 21-13. The deciding game was full of excitement. In the third game, Prannoy showed aggressive play and won it 25-23.
While in the women's singles match of the Asia Mixed Team Championships, PV Sindhu doubled the Indian team's lead. She defeated Wong Ling Ching in straight games 21-13, 21-17 in a 34-minute match. Right from the start of the first game, Sindhu dominated the Malaysian shuttler and easily won the game 21-13. Whereas, Wong Ling Ching struggled to earn points. Wong Ling Ching dominated the Indian shuttler at the start of the second game. But Sindhu came back to take the lead and win the game 21-17.
However, after two consecutive wins, the Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and Chirag Shetty went down 21-16, 21-10 to world champion Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the men's doubles match. In the five-match tie at the Asia Mixed Team Championships, the Indian team won the last two games after taking a 2-1 lead against Malaysia.

In a thrilling women's doubles match, the pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Pearly Tan and Thiinaah Muralitharan in straight games 23-21, 21-15. With this win, the Indian team won the tie 3-1 in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships. Meanwhile, in the final match of the tie, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ishaan Bhatnagar defeated the Malaysian pair of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei 21-19, 19-21, 21-16.
In the quarter-finals of the Asia Mixed Team Championships on Friday, India will play against Hong Kong. Hong kong finished second in Group D.
