Commonwealth Games 2022: PV Sindhu's record in the Commonwealth games

Birmingham, England is hosting the Commonwealth Games 2022 from 28 July. Commonly known as Birmingham 2022, a total of 5054 athletes will be participating from around 72 Commonwealth Nations in 283 events of 20 different Sports. The prestigious tournament embarks its journey from 28 July and ends on 8 August.

PV Sindhu, one of India's most successful badminton players, is the only Indian to become the Badminton World Champion. Talking about her journey success and records in the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games, the legendary player is the winner of all three medals, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

2011 Commonwealth Youth Games

In the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, PV Sindhu won the gold medal in the Girl's singles beating Sonia Cheah Su Ya of Malaysia. National Sports Centre, Douglas, Isle of Man hosted the event where PV Sindhu won the gold medal with a score of 22-20, 21-8.

2014 Commonwealth Games

Emirates Arena, Scotland hosted the match of Women's singles of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The top Indian shuttler claimed the bronze medal beating Tee Jing Yi of Malaysia. PV Sindhu won at a margin of 23-21, 21-9.

2018 Commonwealth Games

In the 2018 Commonwealth Games, PV Sindhu played against another Indian player Saina Nehwal in the final match of the tournament. Saina Nehwal defeated PV Sindhu by 18-21, 21-23 in the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre, Australia. Hence, PV Sindhu brought the Silver medal home.

PV Sindhu is surely going to have a very hectic time with the upcoming Commonwealth and Asian games in 2022. Also, she is very enthusiastic and aims to fill her cabinet with the missing Commonwealth Games. On a conversation with PTI ahead of the India Open Super 500 tournaments, she said, "This year, I would like to win the Commonwealth Games gold, Asian Games title, and the All England title, besides the world championships. It will be important to pick and choose the events as there are lot of tournaments."

She further added, "I stayed home after World championships, taking rest after a hectic last year. Now the new year is starting with India Open, I have trained well and I am looking forward to another busy season ahead."

Sindhu will start her 2022 journey with India Open against Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli.
