Indian badminton player HS Prannoy suffered defeat in the men's singles of the French Open 2022 Super 750 tournament. Prannoy, a member of the Thomas Cup winning team, lost 19-21 22-20 19-21 in a tight match against China's Lu Guang Zu in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday night.

While, Kidambi Srikanth also bowed out of the tournament after suffering a three-game 21-19, 12-21, 19-21 loss to Rasmus Gemke of Denmark in a match that lasted one hour and 15 minutes. The seventh seeded men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are now India's only challenger in the French Open 2022 tournament.

The pair of Satwik and Chirag defeated Malaysian pair of Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee 21-16, 21-14 in the pre-quarterfinals. The pair will meet the top seeded Japanese pair of Takuro Hohi and Yugo Kobayashi in the quarterfinals.
