The pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has made it to the final of the men's doubles section of the French Open 2022. After stunning everyone in the quarterfinal match, the Indian pair maintained their scintillating momentum in the semi-finals as well. They won the match in just 44 minutes at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris on Saturday.

Satwik-Chirag defeated South Korean pair Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho 21-18, 21-14. They dominated this match from the beginning. Choi and Kim performed well but never seemed to be in rhythm. Satwik-Chirag, who won a medal for India at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, will now compete in their second BWF World Tour Finals. Earlier in 2019, the pair reached the BWF Super 750 final. Where they lost to Indonesian ace Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. Moreover, the pair had won the India Open Super 500 tournament in January this year.

Earlier, Satwik and Chirag had defeated former world champion and world number one pair of Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan in the men's doubles quarterfinals on Friday. They defeated top-seeded Japanese players 23-21, 21-18 in 49 minutes. At the same time, they defeated Malaysian pair of Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee 21-16, 21-14 in the pre-quarterfinals to reach the quarter-finals.

Considering the performance of the Indian pair in the quarter-finals, the semi-final match was way easier for them. In the quarter-final match too, the Indian pair made a strong start and quickly took a 20-16 lead. Nevertheless, Takuro-Yugo saved four game points to level the score at 20. However, the Indian duo maintained their composure and won the first game.

Satwik-Chirag will face Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei in the final of the French Open 2022 on Sunday.
