Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth lost to Japan's unseeded Kanta Tsuneyama 10-21, 16-21 in the Japan Open 2022 tournament. Srikanth, who defeated world No. 5 Malaysian Lee Zii Jia on Wednesday, could not continue his good run and went down to the local player and world No. 17 Kanta Tsuneyama.

Earlier, these two players had faced each other in the Korean Open in 2019 and even then the Japanese player was successful in winning. Srikanth didn't even have a great year as he failed to reach the finals of any tournament this year so far. His last best performance was the semi-final finish at the Swiss Open and Korea Open.

On the other hand, India's star shuttler HS Prannoy continued his stellar run with a straight-game win over former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore to enter the quarter-finals of the Japan Open Super 750 tournament. World No. 8 Indian defeated eighth-seeded Yew 22-20, 21-19 in just 44 minutes here.

This is Prannoy's third win in four matches against Yew. The 30-year-old Indian will next face Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen in the last eight stage.
