Though the first day of Olympic 2020 was not that good for India but they pulled it back in the second day. The medal contender Mirabai Chanu wins silver in 49-kg weightlifting, bags India's first medal at Olympics 2020. After winning in the very first match against New Zealand, Indian Hockey team has failed to beat the Australian team in their second match on day 3. However, the Indian shooting team had a disappointing outing.

India also has done well in Table Tennis after 29 years at the Olympics. Manika Batra won back to back two rounds in last 2 days . After trailing by 0-2 in the second round, Batra comesback and won the second round by 4-3 & qualifies for round 3 against Sofia Polcanova of Austria. Sutirtha Mukherjee also won her first round match.
