Malvika Bansod of India reached the womenโs singles main draw of the Swiss Open 2023 Super 300 badminton tournament being played in Basel on Tuesday. Malvika defeated American Lauren Lam 21-17, 21-7 in the qualifying round. The Swiss Open 2023, a BWF Super 300 event, is the eighth tournament of the 2023 BWF World Tour.

Meanwhile, in womenโs doubles, the pair of N Sikki Reddy and Arathi Sara Sunil also made it to the main draw. They beat Paula Lynn Cao Hok and Lauren Lam 21-15, 15-21, 21-18. In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy defeated Patrick Scheiel and Franziska Volkmann of German 21-17, 15-21, 21-18.
However, the Indian womenโs doubles pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, who reached the All Open England in Birmingham last week, crashed out in the first round of the Swiss Open 2023 on Tuesday. Gayatri and Treesa went down 21-14 21-14 to the second-seeded Indonesian pair of Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti. In another qualifying match, Aakarshi Kashyap received a bye into the main draw. Meanwhile, Indiaโs veteran doubles player Ashwini Ponnappa lost her mixed doubles and womenโs doubles qualification matches on the day.

Meiraba Luwang Maisnam and Priyanshu Rajawat could not qualify for the Swiss Open 2023 main draw. Miraba beat his Spanish opponent Luรญs Enrique Penalver in the first round. But she lost 13-21, 25-23, 20-22 to Joran Kweekel of the Netherlands in the second round. While Priyanshu lost 7-21, 5-21 to Chinese Taipeiโs Chia Hao Lee in the first round. At the same time, Rohan Kapoor and Sumeeth B Reddy lost in the first round of the Swiss Open 2023 doubles qualifying. The menโs doubles pair of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila went down 21-17, 18-21, 11-21 to Japanโs Akira Koga and Taichi Saito in the first round of the main draw.
