Denver Nuggets (NBA)

Could this be the season that the Denver Nuggets finally win the NBA title? That’s what the fans of this team dream of but that first title still eludes them. There has been the success of late with them winning their division in both 2019 and 2020. This makes them into the list of the biggest sports teams in Colorado.

Last season saw them lose in the second round of the play-offs but still that final hasn’t been reached. The Nuggets are having another good season and at the time of writing this article, are top of the Western Conference Northwest Division with a 9-3 season record. The play-offs should again be made and hopefully, players such as Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon will make this a history-making season.

Denver Broncos (NFL)

While the Nuggets haven’t won an NBA title, the Broncos have been successful in three Super Bowls. The last of those successes was in the 50th Super Bowl played in February 2016. They defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10.

Three Super Bowl victories have come their way but also five defeats. That includes two in a row at Super Bowls XXI and XXII and another loss two years later. The chances of a Superbowl appearance in 2022 aren’t looking too good at present.

The Broncos have a season record of 5-5 and are bottom of the AFC West. They are only one win behind division leaders Kansas City Chiefs who they have two fixtures against in December and January. The Broncos are 12th overall and that leaves them with some work to do if they want a wild card place. It’s not the position they had expected in mid-November after winning their first three games of the new season. In NFL, they are the biggest sports teams in Colorado.

Sports betting is now legal in the state of Colorado. That’s a very welcome development considering the top teams that play in the state. Betting while on the move is popular too and it’s important to find out as much as possible about Colorado sports betting apps before registering accounts.

Colorado Avalanche (NHL)

Next year marks 50 years since this ice-hockey team based in Denver were formed. They have had two Stanley Cup triumphs with wins in 1995/96 and 2000/01.

The new season has them being rather inconsistent with six wins, five losses and one overtime loss. The Avalanche have games in hand so a wild card place in the Western Conference is still very much possible. If they do manage that, then it’ll be the fifth year in a row that they have reached the playoffs.

Colorado Rockies (MLB)

The 2021 MLB season is one that the Rockies might want to forget. They ended the season with a 74-87 record and finished fourth in the National League West. That record left them 16 wins behind the second wild-card position, so no postseason for them.

Their poor final position wasn’t too much of a surprise. The Rockies began the season with a 6-33 record on the road. That’s the worst start on the road since the live-ball era began. One reason was given for their poor away from is the fact they play in a lower altitude. They ended up losing 54 of their 80 matches on the road. The season before, they’d won nine and lost 21.

Colorado Rapids (MLS)

It’s 11 years since the Colorado Rapids won the MLS Cup. Could another soccer triumph be on the horizon? The Rapids finished top of the Western Conference this season. It was a close-run thing though with the Rapids winning their final game at home to Los Angeles FC to win the title by a single point. That victory took them above Seattle Sounders who could only draw at Vancouver Whitecaps.

Now they enter the play-offs, and they receive a bye to the quarter-finals. Either Minnesota United or Portland Timbers will be their opponents. The hope will be the top scorer Michael Barrios and Jonathan Lewis can fire the Rapids to a long-overdue MLS Cup triumph.
