Indian boxer Akash Kumar (57kg) defeated Wasim Abusal of Palestine to enter the final of the ongoing Mustafa Hajrulahovic Memorial boxing tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
World Championships 2021 bronze medalist Akash adopted an aggressive approach from the beginning and dominated from the first round. Abusal tried to strike back in the second round but to no avail. Meanwhile, Akash continued his aggressive game.
The Indian boxer Akash Kumar did not give any chance to his opponent to make a comeback. He made it to Saturday's final with a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Boxer Akash Kumar's father Rajbir, who was a state-level wrestler, had enrolled his two sons into wrestling. But when Vijender Singh became India's first boxer to win an Olympic medal in 2008, he decided to change their vocation to boxing. Unfortunately, Rajbir could not see his sons turn into great boxers as he passed away next year.
