Wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat, who have been protesting against the WFI chief and demanding his arrest, put out a joint statement.

All activities of the wrestling federation have been cancelled by the Sports Ministry till the probe into the sexual harassment allegations of the grapplers against the WFI chief is completed.

Brij Bhushan, who was in the news for allegedly sexually assaulting women wrestlers, including a minor, said in a video interview that, not just medals, athletes should also return crores of rupees spent on their training.

Determined to make the protest much bigger the Protesters are keen on shifting to a bigger venue.

The protesting wrestlers also said that if Brij Bhushan was still involved in the working of the WFI, they would oppose the holding of the competitions.

WFI chief Brij Bhushan appeals to farmers and khap leaders to join SKM in protest against wrestlers. Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, Khap Maham 24 chief Mehar Singh and Sankyut Kisan Morcha's (non-political) Baldev Singh Sirsa joined the wrestlers' protest on stage and addressed the media.

Sakshi said, “We have discussed with our lawyers. Our statements have not been recorded under (section) 164 (Criminal Code of Procedure) and we are waiting for this."

A bench headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud closed the hearing of the matter on Thursday.

By emphasizing that the protest is not aligned with any political party, Punia is trying to create a sense of unity and common purpose among the protesters.
