Although BCCI has already postponed the Vijay Merchant U-16 Tournament, that has not stopped young kids from dreaming. Rehaan Mondal, a 15-year old left-handed batter from Chakdaha, West Bengal is just an example of that. He scored a magnificent triple hundred in a local U-16 tournament against Born Vita Cricket Academy. Just like his favourite batter Shikhar Dhawan, Reehan now wants to score tons of runs to play for the Bengal team someday.
Reehan practices at Chakdaha Nabin Sangha under the guidance of his coach Naren Dutta. He was chosen to play for Gayeshpur Sports Academy's team in the JCA U-16 Tournament at Yooger Pratic Ground, Ichhapur, West Bengal.
When Rehaan came to the crease, the score was 91/3 after 26.3 overs. As it was an 85-overs multi-day match, Rehaan had lots of time to score something big. He then kept on hitting bad balls from the opponent bowlers very early in his inning. "The wicket was good to bat on. Initially, I got some bad balls which I capitalised on. Then I kept on making a small target of 50 runs as I started hitting the ball really well", Rehaan shared in an exclusive interview with Sportz Point.

Rehaan scored his first hundred in just 77 balls. Then, scored his next hundred in just 41 balls. Interestingly, both the times, he hit it for a boundary to go past the nervous-ninety mark. Later, he went on to add another 114 runs in just 36 balls. At the end of his inning, Rehaan Mondal had already managed to score 317 runs in 154 balls.
An exclusive statistic by CricHeroes showed that Rehaan scored 82.02% of his runs in boundaries. In fact, 22 of them were huge sixes and 32 were boundaries.

Naren Dutta, his coach said, "Rehaan has got everything to be a very good cricketer. He is very calm, which is great for him as a kid. He has scored runs in the past. But, scoring a triple-hundred will surely help him go up the ranks. Everyone is very happy for him".
"I will try everything in my ability to make him reach his potential. I hope scores like this catches the eyes of the Cricket Association of Bengal and nurture this talent early in his career", Naren Dutta added. Although he thinks besides his game, Rehaan needs to be more focused outside the ground if he wants to make a name for himself.
Meanwhile, Rehaan also has some tricks in his kitty as an off-spinner as well. He thinks of himself as an all-rounder and targets to play for renowned clubs in the Kolkata Cricket League which will help him fulfil his aim of playing for Bengal seniors someday.
