Mita Paul, the senior Bengal all-rounder now has 4 Player of the Match Awards in the six matches in the Byju's Bengal Women's T20 Blast Tournament. The Mohammedan Sporting captain till now has scored 205 runs with the bat at an average of 51.25. Meanwhile, she has also taken 6 wickets with the ball as well.

Mita has been a part of the Bengal team for the past three years. However, she has not been able to do justice to her all-around abilities. Therefore, when she was drafted in as the leader of the Mohammedan Sporting Club, it presented her the opportunity to showcase her skill to the fullest.
The Cricket Association of Bengal arranged the Women's T20 Blast for the first time and it has been revolutionary since then. Six teams for Kolkata Maidan is participating where every team will get to play at least ten matches in the tournament. Therefore, this will bring lots of unknowns in the front. Nearly 90 female cricketers from every part of Bengal was chosen to represent any of those six teams in the tournament.

Bengal senior cricketers like Dhara Gujjar, Vanitha VR and Rumeli Dhar are leading teams like Rajasthan Club, Aryan and East Bengal Club. Moreover, they are guiding the young generation to their next step. Although Vanita, Dhara and Rumeli have not been at their best in the tournament, Mita has been the exception.
In the first match against Rajasthan, Mohammedan Sorting posted 132, Mita had scored 68 of them. Titas Sadhu showed her class with 25 off 9 in the latter part of the inning too. Md. Sporting won the match by 19 runs as Mita bagged her first player of the match award.
The second match was not that fruitful for both the captain and the team as they lost by 8 wickets against Town Club. Pual only contributed with 3 runs off 8 balls. Moreover, she could not bring any wickets to her team as well.

In the third match both Paul and Md. Sorting camelback like champions. Mita scored a steady 27 off 32 and also took 3 wickets with the ball. They registered a thumping win over Aryan Club that has India star Vanitha VR in the lineup. Paul again was adjudged with the player of the match award.
The all-rounder again looked in great form as she guided her team home against East Bengal in a tricky chase of 114. Paul remained not out on 49 off 57 balls to bag another player of the match award for herself. In the fifth match, she scored a steady 35 but could not convert it into a big one. Although, with the help of the wicket-keeper Priyanka Bala (27*) they managed to take the full points home.
Mita is currently leading the batting chart with 205 runs. The second on the list, Ankita Chakrobarty is 69 runs behind her. Along with her, it is senior cricketer Jhumia Khatun who has been brilliant in the tournament. Jhumia till now has taken 9 wickets at an outstanding bowling average of 8.67 runs per wicket.
With the tournament nearing the knock-out stage it will be interesting to see which young female cricketer can impress and knock the doors of the senior Bengal team.
