Aaron Finch has been struggling with poor form in One Day Internationals. He has scored a total of 26 runs in the last 7 innings, in which he scored 0 for three times. In the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand, he has been able to score only 5 runs in both innings. According to media reports, Finch may announce his retirement from ODI cricket tomorrow. That means Australia will be led by a new captain in the ODI World Cup next year.

Yesterday, the skipper scored 0 runs against the Kiwis. Finch scored only 16 runs in two matches at home against a weak country like Zimbabwe. In the last seven innings in ODIs, the skipper has been dismissed three times for 0 in limited-overs cricket. Also, he has not scored a century in ODIs for two years. Australia will play the third and final ODI against New Zealand in Cairns on Saturday. That might be Finch's last match for his country in ODIs. With a 2-0 lead in the series, the team will enter the three-match ODI series against the Kiwis on Saturday.

However, it is certain that Finch will lead the Aussie team in the T20 World Cup 2022 in his country next month. Alex Curry, now co-captain, could be seen leading Australia in ODIs in Finch's place. A month ago, England's former captain Eoin Morgan retired from limited overs cricket after losing form.
