Andrew Symonds passed away in a car accident

Andrew Symonds was the sole passenger in the crash just outside of Townsville in his home state of Queensland and police confirmed that a 46-year-old male died at the scene

Former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds died in a brutal car crash on Saturday. The news has come as a shock for the entire cricketing fraternity as this is the 3rd death of an international Australian cricketer in the last 3 months. Prior to this, the world was taken aback by the passing away of Shane Warne and Rod Marsh a couple of months ago.

Symonds was a great servant of Australian cricket throughout his stint with the Australia National Cricket Team. Symonds made his international debut in 1998. Meanwhile, he went on to be a part of Australia's 2 World Cup-winning squads in 2003 and 2007. Andrew Symonds was also a part of the IPL wherein he played for Deccan Chargers before moving to Mumbai Indians.

Andrew Symonds Passes Away In A Car Crash

Reportedly, Symonds was killed in a car crash in Queensland at 10:30 pm on Saturday night. Symonds' family confirmed the news in a tragic statement on Sunday morning. Queensland Police also released a statement. The statement confirmed that Andrew Symonds could not survive a brutal car crash on Saturday. Paramedics attempted to revive the 46-year-old but he later died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Symonds has his wife Laura and young children, Chloe and Billy. The entire cricketing fraternity has currently in shock by the passing away of another Australian legend. Symonds' old friend and the spin wizard, Shane Warne sadly left the world aged 52 a couple of months ago when he passed away due to Cardiac Arrest.

Andrew Symonds' international career span lasted for almost 11 years. Having made his international debut in 1998 for Australia, Symonds played only 28 Test matches for the legendary Australian side. However, he had a significant contribution to the Australian ODI squad. Symonds went on to play 198 ODI games for the country scoring more than 5000 runs in the process.
