Finch-led Australian side has so much up and down in the tournament this year. The defending champions suffered a huge loss in their opening game against the Kiwis while winning the next one against Sri Lanka. However, the most exciting game of the Super 12 between England and Australia got washed out due to rain. So, as of now, the Aussies have three points in as many games and at fourth place in the points table.
Meanwhile, from now onwards they can't afford a washout. After a bad performance against New Zealand, the Kangaroos bounced back strongly against the Lankans. But, however, rain affected the next game as they lost their winning momentum. Stoinis was the star performer in their second encounter with the Super 12. Can they pull off a win here at the Gabba?

The Irish side has suffered a big blow in their opening encounter against Sri Lanka, losing by 5 wickets and five overs to spare. However, they bounced back in the second game against the strong England side. They won the match by 5 runs while following the DLS method. The third game against Afghanistan got washed out without having a toss due to rain. So, in three games the Ireland side has collected three points and currently is in the third position in group 1.
Now, they will face the Aussies, who are just next to them at the table. Skipper Balbirnie smashed a half-century against England while the bowlers have done the rest. Little took two wickets including the prize wicket of Jos Buttler while McCarthy, Hand, and Dockrell took a wicket each. The Irish side will be hoping for another climax here at the Gabba to grab two crucial points to stay in the knockout race.
