ICC has now given one demerit point to this pitch. After that, BCCI's appeal gets approval. Also, this pitch has been described as 'Below Average'. India vs Australia third Test was over within 3 days, after which the ICC had termed the pitch as bad. On this decision, the anger of all the veteran cricketers of India was also fierce on the ICC.

The ICC shared its report saying that the ICC Appeals Panel, comprising ICC General Manager Wasim Khan and ICC Men's Cricket Committee member Roger Harper reviewed the video footage of the Test match. After this, BCCI's appeal gets approval when it was decided that the pitch should be given 'below average' rating instead of 'poor' rating. The report further said that they will give the Holkar Stadium 1 rating point instead of 3.

ICC has divided pitch rating into 6 parts. It includes Very Good, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor and Unfit. In such a situation, if the pitch of a ground gets 5 or more demerit points in a period of 5 years, then the country couldn't host any international matches for 1 year on that ground. The ICC has now changed its decision regarding the Indore pitch, which has brought great relief to the Indian fans.

In the third Test match between India and Australia, spinners were dominating this pitch. A total of 14 wickets fell on the first day of the Test match. Spinners had 26 wickets in the entire match. Australia batted brilliantly in the second innings and defeated India by 9 wickets. Nathan Lyon of Australia took the most wickets in this match. Leone took 11 wickets in both the innings.
