Well, saying "age is just a number" is one thing but proving it is just another. Abhijit Ganguly is an inspiration for all the young cricketers who are looking to make a career in Bengal cricket. At 52, he is fighting, challenging young cricketers in fitness and scoreboard too. Post scoring another match-winning 49 off 31 balls at nearly 41-degree heat, the Bengal cricket giant shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Sportz Point.

"Please don't mention my age, I think age is just a number," Abhijit Ganguly started off with a big smile on his face. But, is it possible for someone at his age to play in this heat and look like the youngest in the team? "Yes, it is," he answered.

"Actually the thing is I am always challenging the youngsters of the team. It is not like that, I will play just because I am experienced enough. No, I fight for my place in the team. If the team think I am good enough, then I play," he added further.

But, the question comes to everyone's mind, how? how can one stay fit at 52, looks like 28 and plays like a prime 24-year-old athlete? "Well, you have to do fitness training every day," Abhijit Ganguly's answer will surely be a motivation to all the middle age men who think it is not possible o stay fit at 52.

"I think my fitness regime and discipline have been my strength. I have three things in my life. Eating well, doing my fitness training and sleeping well. These three things have kept me going," Ganguly added further.

After getting another "Man of the match" Abhijit thinks, Town club this year will end the trophy drought. "If you look at our team, we have great youngsters in the team. Moreover, our bowling lineup is one of the strongest in Bengal cricket. So, I can assure you Town Club will win one or two trophies this season," Abhijit said.
