Deepak Chahar was recovering from a quadriceps tear at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He had suffered a fresh back injury while bowling in the nets. This meant CSK won't be able to avail of his services for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, it's certainly a major blow for the four-time champions. They secured Chahar's services for a whopping INR 14 crore at the mega auction.

However, he was initially set to join the team for the second half of the season. As per the Times of India, the latest scans suggest the right-arm pacer won't take the field for at least four months. This means he could well miss the T20 World Cup 2022 as well.

The right-handed bowler can also bat as well with two ODI half-centuries to his name. Chennai Super Kings will miss the service of Chahar through the IPL 2022 tournament. The Indian team, however, would remain hopeful of Chahar's recovery as the fast-bowling all-rounder would be a great asset on Australian tracks.
