India is facing England for a five-match Test series which has already kicks off on 4th August. However, It is becoming a great contest between bat and ball among two quality sides with good batsmen firing on all cylinders. Gooch made his debut in Test cricket in 1975 at 21 against the touring Australia side captained by Ian Chappell. His debut was not a great success, and England lost the first Test by an innings and 85 runs. England team's former captain Graham Gooch hammered 43 fours and 3 sixes during his innings of 333. He played 485 deliveries to get to the highest run against India in the second day of 1st Test match. Gooch scored a record 456 runs in the Lord's Test against India in 1990, 333 in the first innings and 123 in the second.

#2 Joe Root 218 (2021)

Joe Root produced a stellar knock in India in the first test in 2021 and this was the back of a double century in the previous test against Sri Lanka. Root was in tremendous form and his 218 off 377 balls comprised of 19 fours and 2 sixes against a quality Indian bowling attack in Chennai. Root's innings helped England post a big total on board in their first innings and eventually went on to win the test by 227 runs in the end. This is the second highest score by an England Captain in ENG vs IND tests.

England's finest batsmen Alastair Cook almost got to a double hundred while opening the innings. Cook scored 190 off 377 balls in England's first innings with 23 fours and 2 sixes. Cook's innings helped England post a big total of 523 on board in their first innings and eventually went on to win the test by 7 wickets in the end. England former captain Mike Gatting's debut was against Pakistan in 1978. However, he smashes 183* runs with facing 294 deliveries and hitting 20 boundaries and 2 over boundaries. He scored his unbeaten 183 against India at the Edgbaston in the third test in 1986. Surprisingly, this match was his second test match as a captain for England.
