Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 56 runs in Match 51 of the IPL 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Chasing a target of 228 runs, Lucknow were restricted to 171/7 in 20 overs, despite a knock of 79 runs off 41 balls by Quinton de Kock. Mohit Sharma was in good form for GT and bagged four wickets. GT raced to 227/2 in 20 overs with ease, courtesy of dominant batting from openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill hammered an unbeaten knock of 94 runs off 51 deliveries, packed with two fours and seven sixes. For LSG's bowling department, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan took a wicket each. Shubman Gill & Wriddhiman Saha got off to a brilliant start
Lucknow Super Giants won the toss & decided to bowl first. Wriddhiman Saha showed positive intent in the last game but unfortunately, lost his wicket without being able to complete a half-century. He overcame that and started with a storm in this match. Shubman Gill joined the party with massive sixes. Wriddhiman Saha slaughtered the opposition bowlers all around the ground and completed his half-century in just 20 deliveries. The pair added 78 runs in the powerplay for Gujarat Titans.
GT added more 22 runs in the next two overs and got past the 100-run mark without losing a single wicket. Shubman Gill also completed his half-century after some gigantic maximums. The openers carried the riot on and completed 142 runs after 12 overs. Avesh Khan broke the partnership by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha for 81 runs in just 43 deliveries.
The top order of Gujarat did the job perfectly
Hardik Pandya came into the crease and played a short cameo but soon he had to return back to the dugout for 25 runs. David Miller & Shubman Gill carried on from there and got past the 200 scoreline in the 19th over. GT accumulated 14 runs in the final over and put up a mammoth total of 227 runs on the table. Shubman Gill remained not out after scoring 94 runs in just 51 deliveries. David Miller also remained not out with 21 runs.

Mayers & De Kock started the chase with a storm
Mayers & De Kock opened for Lucknow Super Giants to chase the huge total. They started really well in the powerplay and added a 50 runs-opening partnership in just 24 deliveries. Mayers showed his madness like he was toying with the opposition bowlers. GT reached 72 runs in the powerplay courtesy of the power-hittings from the openers. It looked like they are on the right path to chase the mammoth total.
Mohit Sharma broke the 88 runs partnership in the 9th over by dismissing Kyle Mayers for 48 runs. Despite Mayer's wicket, LSG didn't stop there as De Kock was still trying to play big shots. Lucknow reached the 100 run-mark in the 10th over. Hooda once again failed to impress the fans and lost his wicket after scoring only 11 runs. Mohit Sharma gave another blow by dismissing Stoinis for a single-digit score and the hopes began to shatter for the visitors.

Rashid Khan gave them security by dismissing the only remaining dangerous man for them. De Kock went to the dugout after playing a brilliant knock of 70 runs in just 41 deliveries. No other batters could stand against Gujarat's bowling lineup and as a result, Lucknow only managed to score 171 runs after losing 7 wickets. Mohit Sharma returned with 4 wickets as LSG lost the match by 56 runs. With this victory, Gujarat secured their spot in the playoffs.
