In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. He also became the second player with over 70+ average. Gill reached the landmark while playing an ODI match against New Zealand on Tuesday in India. Gill has played 21 ODI matches for India till now & has scored 1254 runs with an unbelievable avg of 73.76. In the process, he made 1 double century, 4 centuries & 5 half centuries.

Hendrik Erasmus Rassie van der Dussen made a record for scoring runs with an avg of over 70+ last year while playing against England. Rassie van der Dussen was the only ODI batter to register a batting average over 70. Eventually, his avg declined. His current average in ODI is 69.31 in 32 innings. He has scored 1525 runs with 3 centuries & 11 half-centuries.

The now-retired Dutchman Ryan ten Doeschate is arguably one of the greatest players to have played cricket from an Associate nation, as he smashed 1,541 runs in 33 ODI matches with an avg of 67.00. Ten Doeschate retired in 2021 as the Netherlands' leading run-getter in ODIs, with five centuries and nine fifties.

The Pakistan captain has scored 4,813 runs in 95 matches while registering a batting average of 59.41. Azam is one of the finest batters Pakistan has ever had, and he continues to climb up to the top.

Former India captain Virat Kohli is next on the list. He is currently the highest-active ODI run-scorer with 12,809 runs in 271 with a batting average of 57.69.

Kohli is among the greatest modern-day batsmen across all forms of cricket. But in ODI cricket alone, Virat is seen as someone who could break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI hundreds, given he has scored 46 centuries.
