ICC recognises and felicitates the best cricketers throughout the year with ICC Awards every year. In 2021, with ICC T20 World Cup 2021 taking place, the focus always stayed on the shortest format of the game. For 2021, ICC has revealed the ICC Men's T20I team of the year and ICC Women's T20I of the year for ICC awards 2021.
ICC Men's T20I Team of the year 2021

Among these, extremely talented players Jos Buttler, Mohammad Rizwan, Mitchell Marsh, and Wanindu Hasaranga are nominated for the ICC T20I Men's player of the year 2021 award.

Jos Buttler at the top of the inning scored 589 runs in 14 matches at 65.44 with one century in 2021. Moreover, his performance in the T20 World Cup was very impactful for team England. Meanwhile, his partner in the team of the year, Rizwan scored 1326 runs in only 29 matches. He broke the record for the most T20I runs in a calendar year.

Babar Azam was also very influential in Pakistan reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. The Pakistani captain piled 939 runs at an average of 37.56 in 2021. Aiden Markram was also on-song for the South African team throughout the year though they had a tough time as a team.
Meanwhile, the year was a breakthrough year for Australia's Micthell Marsh who single-handedly took the Aussies close to the T20 World Cup victory. Marsh made 627 runs in 21 matches at 36.88 along with 8 wickets. Along with Marsh, both David Miller and Wanindu Hasaranga had a great year for their respective teams. Hasaranga took 36 wickets in 20 matches at 11.63. Moreover, he contributed with 196 runs with the bat as well.
Samsi, who was the No.1 ranked T20I bowler in the world in 2021 did much damage throughout the year. The left-arm chinaman bowler celebrated 36 times at an average of 13.36 and an outstanding economy of 5.72.

Josh Hazelwood's shortest format career got a boost in 2021. The red-ball specialist for the Aussies was in red hot form in the shortest format also. In 2021, Josh took 23 wickets at an average of 16.34. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi took 23 wickets in 2021 to get his name on the ICC Awards list.

India's Smriti Mandhana had a wonderful year at the top of the order. The stylish left-hander scored 255 runs at an average of 31.87. Moreover, her strike rate of 131.44 was one of the best in the world. Along with her, it was England's Tammy Beaumont who got her team off to a great start more often than not. Tammy scored 303 runs at an average of 33.66. In addition to that, she also scored 9 fifties as well.
Although, Dani Wyatt partners Tammy for England, she had to shift to number three. Dani's 252 runs at an average of 31.50 meant she had to be in the T20I team of the year. Meanwhile, Ireland's Gaby Lewis became the first Irish woman to hit a century in a T20I match. In addition, Gaby scored 325 runs in the year at an excellent average of 40.62.

The captain of the team, Nat Sciver had a wonderful year with both bat and ball. Sciver scored 153 runs and took 10 wickets in 2021. Her bowling average was 20.20, which makes it impossible to leave her out of the team of the year in ICC Awards 2021.
Meantime, Amy Jones scored 151 runs at a pace of 142.45 to earn a place in this team. South African Laura Wolvaardt not only scored her runs at a strike rate of 161, but she also averaged 53.66 in 2021. Along with her Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail are the other South African cricketers who did very well with the ball to manage a place in the team. Kapp took 8 wickets and 11 wickets. In addition, 11 Ismail had a mean average and strike-rate of 13.00 and 12.0 respectively.
