ICC has just released the new ICC Test Batting rankings. Former No.1 Test Batsman Virat Kohli has dropped to 13th place in the latest Test batting rankings. Team India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has gone up five-place to become India's highest ranked Test batter currently. Joe Root with 923 points holds the No.1 spot in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.
Root claims career-high ranking points
Root, who has been in sublime form, scored another hundred to go past Virat Kohli in the list of active players with most tons in Test Cricket. The former England captain made his 28th ton against India at Edgbaston. His ton helped England chase a mammoth total of 378 in the fourth innings to draw the series. By virtue of that, Root has now claimed his highest ranking points in the ICC Test Batting Rankings (923).
Meanwhile, his partner in crime, Jonny Bairstow is having a great season with the bat as well. The England keeper-batter is now the 10th ranked batsman in the world. He has moved up 11-place after his another blistering hundred against India. Bairstow currently has 742 points in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.
Another mover in the list is India's keeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Pant also has been in tremendous form in the longest format of the game. Pant, who was appointed as the vice-captain of India against England in the last test, scored a brilliant ton in the first inning to go with his fifty in the second. He is currently at number five spot with 801 points. Moreover, he is India's highest ranked test batter at the moment.
Kohli out of Top 10
However, India's two best batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma saw a significant drops in the ICC Test Batting Rankings. Rohit, who did not play in the fifth test against England dur to Covid-19, dropped one place. India's current captain is now at No.9 with 746 points.
Meanwhile, Kohli dropped four places after his continued failures. The former Indian captain is currently at No.13 with 714 points. This is the first-time that Kohli has dropped out of Top 10 in 2053 days.
