Titas Sadhu, a name that will resonate in the Indian women's cricket sector for a long now. Reason was her lethal spell in the final of the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup. But, Gargi Banerjee knew it way before she boarded the plane for South Africa. Titas bowled a spell of 6/2 in her 4 overs against England in Potchefstroom as India won the inaugural tournament under the leadership of Shafali Verma.
India was always the strongest team on paper with Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh in the squad with international experience. But, the magic lay in the unknown names like Shweta Sheratwat, Titas Sadhu or a G. Trisha.

Titas came through the ranks of underage cricket in Bengal. However, with her pace and bounce, it did not take her too much time to represent the senior team. "Yes, she always had the potential. But, to hold her nerve and perform at this level, you need a calm head, which Titas has," said former India cricketer Gargi Banerjee who has seen the growth of Titas from an early age.
"It was wonderful to see her dominate the batters. What a spell. We all are very happy to see girls like Titas perform well at this level," Gargi Banerjee added.
But, the former India cricketer feels Titas has a long way to go. In fact, she feels Sadhu can be an asset for team India and be a world-beater.
"If she keeps her head down and can manage herself well, Titas has a long way to go. I feel only she can be an asset to the senior team. She will have to play for the senior team and do well at that level. My best wishes will always be with her.
Along with all of this, captain Shefali Verma was outstanding in managing all the young bowlers of the team. Gargi Banerjee feels the way Shafali has led the side, she can be groomed into a future captain for the senior team for sure.
