The Indian ODI team is currently playing a 3-match ODI series against West Indies. Both the teams will then move forward to a T20I series, followed by the Indian team playing against Sri Lanka, IND vs SL, at home. And in between all of this Abbey Kuruvilla steps down from the selection panel. Kuruvilla is a member of the Indian selection committee. Also, he was a member of the India senior selection committee and a member of the selection committee from the west zone earlier.

But the question that arises to everyone is why Kuruvilla resigned suddenly. According to the new BCCI rule, no selector can be a member of the selection committee for more than 5 years. Abbey became one of the members of the senior selection committee in December 2020. And before that, he played his role as a member of the junior selection committee for the past 4 years. And this is the reason behind him stepping down from the selection panel and leaving his post.
BCCI is now searching for someone to replace the experienced 53-year-old Abbey. According to some reports, he might get the post of board game development manager. Being a former cricketer, he played 10 test matches and 25 ODI matches for the Indian team during the 90s. In both the test matches and ODI matches, he picked up 25 wickets each. Lastly, in 1997 he played in all the 35 International matches
