The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) chief selector Chetan Sharma has announced the Test and T20I squad's for the upcoming Sri Lanka home series starting on February 24. In the Test squad, four senior players have been dropped for the entire series. Meanwhile, on Saturday BCCI has announced Rohit Sharma as India's 35th Test captain.

The list includes veteran pacer Ishant Sharma, two batsmen Rahane, Pujara, and also keeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha. Rahane and Pujara are currently playing in the Ranji Trophy game for their respective states. Meanwhile, Saha and Ishant opted out of the tournament.
Now the question arises has BCCI completely failed to manage the Indian cricketers in different forms of the game? However, Chetan Sharma said that the management is looking towards the youngsters specifically for the backup keeper in Tests. As we know, KS Bharat has been waiting for a long time to be a regular member of the Indian test squad. Is it the reason to drop Saha for the SL tour?? Well, Mr. Sharma has hinted at this in the press conference yesterday.

BCCI has asked Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha to play Ranji Trophy
"Otherwise how will we know if they are fit enough to play," Chetan Sharma added.
On the other hand, Rahane and Pujara are currently playing in the Ranji while Rahane scored a brilliant hundred in his first innings. However, Pujara has failed again as he got out on a duck after playing just four deliveries.
However, the BCCI can manage these events. But, they clearly mentioned that they don't want the 37-year old as their backup keeper. The veteran pacer, Ishant has opted out from the Ranji and also didn't get a place in the Test squad against SL. Mohammad Siraj replaces Ishant on the team for the home series.
Although, in the case of Rahane and Pujara they haven't said anything specifically as they are playing Ranji. However, If they perform well then they might make a comeback to the team.
Now, all we have to wait and see if these four senior players get a chance in the near future. As of now, the management is looking beyond them with Shreyas, Priyank, Siraj, and KS Bharat on their side for the SL home series. The Sri Lanka Test series is scheduled to start from March 4 onwards with the 1st Test will be played at Mohali.
