One of the BCCI sources told PTI, "Yes, one of the players has tested positive although he is largely asymptomatic currently. He is in quarantine at an acquaintance's place and won't be traveling with the team to Durham on Thursday."
On being asked about any news of worry as the players were on a break after the WTC final, the source said, "As of now, they are all fine, but we will be testing them regularly and following strict protocols. Safety of the players is always the priority,"

It is definitely a piece of bad news for Virat and his team and the fans as well.
But there is nothing to worry about as both of them are not having any serious symptoms. They have tested asymptomatic and had a bit of cough and cold during the COVID-19 period.

According to sources one of the players has tested negative and the other player will be having his test on 18th July after he completes his 10-day isolation.

The much-awaited T20I comeback of Mohammed Shami will be delayed as the veteran pace bowler has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be out of the Australia series starting in Mohali from September 20. "Yes, Shami has tested COVID-19 positive. But there is nothing to worry about as the symptoms are mild. But he will have to remain in isolation and will be able to rejoin the squad once he tests negative. It is unfortunate but that is how life is."

a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity

Asked how long he thinks Mohammed Shami will take to recover. However, the source seemed hopeful that he would be fit for the next series against South Africa.

"We are expecting Shami to be fit for the next series against South Africa. There are 10 days before that series starts. So we are more than hope you can say," he said.

But 35-year-old Umesh Yadav's comeback is nothing short of a fairytale in this format as his county stint with Middlesex was cut short by a quadriceps injury. He had a terrific first leg of IPL 2022 for KKR when he swung the ball at a great pace. Umesh has last represented India in the shortest format back in 2019 against Australia.

For Middlesex, he had a terrific Royal London Cup recently. In the tournament, he took 16 wickets in 7 List A games including a five-wicket and a four-wicket haul.

"Umesh was doing his rehab at the NCA after he came back and it was not a tear, so he has now recovered and is fit to play," the source said.

India will begin their Asia Cup 2022 journey on August 28 against their arch-rivals Pakistan in UAE. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will miss the entire tournament owing to different injuries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi had already been ruled out of the tournament with an injury. The official confirmation about Rahul Dravid's unavailability will be announced soon by BCCI.

In his absence, VVS Laxman may take the charge of the Indian team. But the Indian team has done well under the tutelage of interim coach VVS Laxman. Laxman guided a relatively young Indian team to an impressive clean sweep in the three-match ODI series against hosts Zimbabwe.

The current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief was also in charge of the national team on their tour of Ireland this year and will look to extend his winning run with the team in the Asia Cup opener against arch-rivals Pakistan on the 28th of August.

West Indies' new captain Nicholas Pooran, during the toss in the first ODI, confirmed that Holder has contracted Covid-19. Moreover, he mentioned that the team remains the same from the last assignment against Bangladesh.

"Unfortunately, Jason has Covid, so he misses out. It's pretty much the same guys who played in the series against Bangladesh," Nicholas Pooran said at the toss during the first ODI.

The 30-year-old's absence now will be a huge miss considering his experience and his skillset. The former captain has the ability to bat in the top six and can bowl in different phases of the game and is also one of the safest fielders. He would have made a huge difference to the inexperienced West Indies side at the moment.

New Zealand Cricket said in a statement

The Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin on July 28 in Birmingham.
