#1. India vs South Africa | 5th T20I

The all-important fifth and final T20I was scheduled at Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 19. The game, however, washed out with only 3.3 overs happened. Winning the toss SA decided to bowl first as they managed to bowl only 3.3 overs in which India scored 28/2. The game was scheduled to happen in 19 overs per side but ended up with no result. Lungi Ngidi took two wickets in the game. India shared the trophy with South Africa. Rishabh Pant and Keshav Maharaj (stand-in captain) share the trophy.

#2. Ireland vs India | 1st T20I

After the home series against South Africa, the Men in Blue fly away to Ireland for a two-match T20I series. Hardik Pandya was appointed as the new captain of the side with a fresh squad in the series.

In the first T20I game, initially, the game started late due to heavy rain in Dublin. When the game starts the overs were reduced to 12 per side. Ireland set a good total of 108 on the board as Harry Tector remained unbeaten on 64 runs of just 33 balls. For India, Bhuvi, Hardik, Avesh, and Chahal took one wicket each. Meanwhile, in the run chase Deepak Hooda (47* off 29) came to open with Ishan Kishan (26 off 11). Both of the openers gave India a fiery start as captain Hardik Pandya (24 off 12) did the rest. Umran Malik made his debut in this game while he only got one over to the bowl. India comfortably won the match by 7 wickets and 16 balls to spare.

#3. Ireland vs India | 2nd T20I

Coming to the second and final T20I of the tour, India managed to win the game by just 4 runs in a nail-biting thriller. Batting first, Indian batters performed well as India finished with a huge score of 225 runs in respective 20 overs. New opener for India, Sanju Samson hammered 77 runs off 42 balls while Deepak Hooda scored his maiden International and T20I century in the game. Hooda smashed 104 runs off 57 balls before getting dismissed by Josh Little.

Meanwhile, in the run chase, Ireland's openers took India bowlers and started to slash them in each and every ball. Paul Stirling (40 off 18) and captain Andrew Balbirnie (60 off 37) scored the most runs for Ireland. However, last match performer Harry Tector (39 off 28) also scored some important runs. The late blows from George Dockrell (34* off 16) and Mark Adair (23* off 12) helped the hosts to drag the game till the last delivery. Newcomer Umran Malik defended 18 runs in the final over as India managed to win the game by 4 runs and the series by 2-0.

#4. England vs India | 1st T20I

The three-match T20I series against England started on July 7 with Rohit Sharma back as the captain of team India. Rohit-led India managed to win the first game by a good margin of 50 runs. Batting first, India managed to reach a total of 198 in respective 20 Overs. Hardik Pandya (51 off 33) scored a half-century while important contributions from Rohit (24 off 14), Hooda (33 off 17), and Surya (39 off 19) helped India to get to the total.

Coming to the chase, England's newly appointed captain and inform batter Jos Buttler got clean bowled by swing master Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a first-ball duck. Jason Roy also fails in the trap of Hardik Pandya. Soon, with the help of Pandya India took the charge of the English batter as they bundled out their host in just 148 runs with three balls to spare. Hardik Pandya was the star of the match who scored a fifty firstly and then took four wickets while bowling in the second innings. He became the first player to do so. #5. England vs India | 2nd T20I

In the second T20I, India again managed to grab a win at Edgbaston by another good margin of 49 runs. Coming to bat first, India set a target of 171 for the hosts with the contribution of captain Rohit (31 off 20), Pant (26 off 15), and Jadeja (46* off 29). England debutant Richard Gleeson took three wickets and that too of Rohit, Pant, and Virat. It was a dream debut for the 34-year-old guy. Chris Jordan took four wickets.

In the chase, England openers Roy and Buttler again fails to deliver as Moeen Ali (35 off 21) was only the man from the side who scored some runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar again shines in this game as he took the wickets of Roy, Buttler, a d Gleeson. England got bundled on 121 runs with three more overs to spare. Bumrah and Chahal took two wickets while Hardik and Harshal took one each.

#6. England vs India | 3rd T20I

In the Third and Final T20I of the series, England somehow managed to grab their first win in the series. The British brigade won the match by 17 runs as Reece Topley shines again with his brilliant bowling display. Batting first, England set a huge target of 216 for the visitors as Dawid Malan shines with the bat. Malan scored 77 runs off just 39 balls before getting dismissed. Meanwhile, important contributions from Liam Livingstone(42* off 29) helped England to reach the total.

In the run chase, India hasn't started well as they lost their top three batters inside just 31 runs. Meanwhile, then Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer came into the game. They build up a huge partnership of 119 runs to give the Indian innings a breath of oxygen. Surya hammered his maiden international T20I hundred in the game while he smashed 117 runs off 55 balls. This is the second highest individual total for any Indian player in T20Is after Rohit Sharma's 118 vs SL in 2017. Iyer scored 28 while, Dinesh Karthik and Jadeja both failed to finish the game. Reece Topley took three wickets while David Willey and Chris Jordan took two each.

#7. West Indies vs India | 1st T20I

After a successful T20I series in England, team India flew away to Trinidad for three-match ODI and a five-match T20I series. Coming to the T20Is, in the very first game, India managed to grab a win by 68 runs while defending a total of 190. Batting first, Rohit Sharma and his men put up a brilliant show as the skipper smashed 64 runs off 44 balls as he opened with Surya Kumar Yadav(24 off 16). Shreyas, Pant, Pandya, and Jadeja failed to score big as Dinesh Karthik took the charge to help India to reach a good total. Karthik's cameo 41 in just 19 balls and Ashwin's 13 off 10 get India to 190 in 20 overs.

In the chase, West Indies never looked to be in the game as they started to lose wickets at every interval. No one scored more than 20 runs (highest Brooks 20). Indian bowlers managed to take quick wickets to end West Indies' hope of winning the game. West Indies ended their innings on 122/8 in 20 Overs and fell short by 68 runs. Arshdeep, Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each while, Bhuvi and Jadeja together grabbed two wickets.

#8. West Indies vs India | 2nd T20I

After winning the first T20I India's overconfidence costs them the second game as West Indies won the game by 5 wickets while chasing a minor total of 139. Batting first, Indian batsmen failed to score big as Pant, Hardik, and Jadeja were only the three batsmen who helped India to get to 138. For West Indies, left-arm pacer Obed McCoy was the star of the match as he took six wickets. He returned with the best T20I figure against India of 4-1-17-6. Jason Holder took two wickets while other bowlers took one each except Odean Smith, who went away for 43 runs in his 4 overs quota.

In the run chase, West Indies opener Brandon King stood out for the hosts as he scored 68 runs off 52 balls to secure the first victory for them on the tour. Keeper batsman Devon Thomas helped King as he remained unbeaten on 31 off 19. West Indies chased down the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 5 wickets. #9. West Indies vs India | 3rd T20I

India made a brilliant comeback in the third T20I by winning the game by 7 wickets and one over to spare. Suryakumar Yadav stood out for India as he scored 76 off 44 while chasing 165 against West Indies. Batting first, the hosts put up a good total of 164/5 on the board with the help of Kyle Mayers 73 off 50 balls which includes 8 fours and 4 sixes. For India, Bhuvneshwar took two wickets while Arshdeep and Hardik took one each.

In the chase, Rohit Sharma got off a good start before he injured himself and retired hurt later. Shreyas Iyer (24 off 27) and Rishabh Pant (33* off 26) assist Surya to help India to reach the total inside 19 overs. For the hosts, Drakes, Holder, and Akeal took one wicket each. Suryakumar Yadav won the player of the match award for his brilliant innings while chasing. India took a lead of 2-1 in the series.

#10. India vs Pakistan | Asia Cup 2022

First India vs Pakistan clash happened in the Asia Cup and that too in their first encounter of the season respectively. Indian managed to steal victory from their arch-rivals Pakistan and won the game by 5 wickets. Hardik Pandya was the star of the match who took three wickets first and then played a match-winning knock of 33 runs in just 17 balls.

Winning the toss India elected to bowl first. In the very beginning, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the price wicket of Babar Azam when he was on his personal score of 10. Soon, each and every batsman failed except Rizwan who scored 43 off 42. Late contributions from Dahani and Haris Rauf helped Pakistan to finish on 147. Bhuvneshwar got four wickets, Hardik got three, and Arshdeep took two.

India set to chase the target of 148, but in the very first over opener KL Rahul got bowled out on a duck, the delivery bowled by Naseem Shah. Soon, Rohit Sharma (12) also fails before Virat and Jadeja come to the chase. Virat scored 35 off 34 while Jadeja smashed 35 off 29. These two important innings helped India to keep the momentum on its way. Later Hardik Pandya came and ended up Pakistan's hope in the last over by hitting a six over the mid-wicket region. India won the encounter by 5 wickets and Hardik was named the Man of the Match.

#11. India vs Hong Kong | Asia Cup 2022

In match no. 4 of the Asia Cup 2022, India faced Hong Kong in Dubai. Hong Kong played brilliantly, although ended up on the losing side. India won the match by 40 runs. Batting first, India managed to get to a good total with the help of KL Rahul (36 off 39), Virat Kohli (59* off 44), and Suryakumar Yadav (68* off 26). The unbeaten partnership of 98* between Kohli and Surya got India to 192/2 in 20 overs. For Hong Kong, Ayesh Shukla Ghazanfar took one wicket each.

In the chase, Hong Kong got off a decent start before hurdling in the middle. Hayat (41 off 35) and Shah (30 off 28) scored some valuable runs for HK. The chase was going great but in the middle overs, they lost their set batsmen and already virtually lost the game. Some good late touch was shown by Zeeshan Ali, who scored 26 off 17 but that wasn't enough as they suffered a defeat by 40 runs. For India, Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep, Avesh, and Jadeja everyone took one wicket each. India got two back-to-back victories in the Asia Cup 2022.

#12. India vs Pakistan | Asia Cup 2022 (Super 4)

The latest encounter between these two arch-rivals was again a nail-biting thriller with Pakistan grabbing the victory in the last over. With this win, Pakistan registered its third victory against India in T20Is in eleven games. Batting first, India put up a total of 181/7 on the board as Virat Kohli (60 off 44) smashed his second consecutive fifty of the tournament. His innings helped India to get to a competitive total against their arch-rivals Pakistan.

However, in the chase, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam again fails to deliver as it was again Rizwan, who scored a fifty before getting dismissed by Hardik. Mohammed Rizwan smashed 71 off 51 while Nawaz scored a quickfire 42 off just 20 balls. These two innings put things down for India before, Arshdeep missed an important catch in the 18th over of Ravi Bishnoi. In the next over Bhuvneshwar Kumar went on for 19 runs that turned things out of India's hand. In the final over, 7 were needed as Khusdil(14) and Asif Ali(16) finished the game for India. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets keeping the record as 8-3 in T20Is.

Ravindra Jadeja is easily the most well-rounded cricketer India has ever produced. A major portion of his success needs to be credited to the IPL, as the Saurashtra superstar built his international career by learning in the IPL under cricketing greats like Shane Warne, MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming, and others. 

Apart from missing the 2010 season, Ravindra Jadeja has played all the other seasons with him representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since 2012. He has played 240 games taking 160 wickets with the ball with an average of 30.40 and an economy rate of 7.62.

His generational fielding skills have also shined, as the 36-year-old has taken 103 catches in the competition, making him ‘The Ultimate All-rounder’ as he is the only player to have 1000+ runs, 100+ wickets, and 100+ catches, fulfilling his 3-dimensional abilities to the fullest.

8. Lasith Malinga | 170 Wickets

Lasith Malinga, who is undoubtedly the greatest pacer in the IPL history has taken 170 wickets in 122 games he has played. Malinga averages 19.79 with the bowl and maintained an economy rate of 7.14 in the cash-rich league.

He has recorded an impressive economy of 7.37 in the league and has been crucial in taking wickets in middle overs. However, previously he has played for Lucknow Super Giants.

6. Ravichandran Ashwin | 180* Wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin is always known as a great bowler in Test cricket but he has also proved his ability in the shortest format of the game. Meanwhile, Ash comes at number six on this list of bowlers with the most wickets in IPL history. 

Ashwin also has picked 180 wickets in 212 matches with an average of 29.82. He has also maintained an economy rate of 7.12. 

Ashwin went on to play for Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, and returns to the CSK fold after having featured for Rajasthan Royals for the last three seasons.

The Indian off-spinner was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs. 9.75 crore at the IPL 2025 auction. Ashwin had burst onto the scene in 2009 with CSK under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. He represented Super Kings till 2015 and was part of two title-winning campaigns, in 2010 and 2011.

The next bowler on this is none other than the West Indies magician Sunil Narine. Narine has taken 180 wickets in 176 games with an average of 25.39 and bowls with an economy rate of 6.73. 

He has been a crucial member of the Kolkata-based franchise KKR, as the franchise won the league back in 2012, 2014, and 2024.

Narine has also played as an opener under Gambhir's captaincy. However, currently, he is with the KKR franchise as they retain the off-spinner before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar | 181* Wickets

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with 181 wickets is the fourth name in this list of players with the most wickets in IPL. Bhuvi has played in 176 matches in which he took those 181 wickets at an average of 27.23. However, he has bowled with an economy rate of 7.56 in the league. 

Meanwhile, Bhuvi will play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise as they bought him in the IPL 2025 mega auction at a whopping 10.75 crore price.

3. Dwayne Bravo | 183 Wickets

Dwayne Bravo with 183 wickets is the third name on the list. He is the second pacer after Lasith Malinga on the list to take the most wickets in IPL. 

Bravo had been a vital cog in Chennai’s bowling lineup, particularly in the death overs. With MS Dhoni being captain, Bravo’s potential has been used very cleverly for the team’s benefit. 

The all-rounder has played 161 IPL games and averages 23.82 with the ball. 

He played his last IPL match in the 2022 season for Chennai.

2. Piyush Chawla | 192 Wickets

Piyush Chawla, who was bought by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2021 in the mini-auction is the second-highest wicket-taker in the league history. He has picked 192 wickets in 192 matches with an average of 26.60 and an economy being 7.96. 

Piyush Chawla has earlier featured for Chennai, Punjab, and Kolkata-based franchises in the cash-rich league.

Yuzvendra Chahal has taken the most wickets in IPL history. Chahal has played in 160 games in which he has scalped 205 wickets with an average of 22.44. Moreover, he has an economy of 7.84 in the league.

Previously Chahal has played for RCB till 2021 and this season he will be featuring the Rajasthan Royals as they bought him in the IPL mega auction.

Chahal was with Rajasthan Royals since the 2022 season, claiming 66 wickets in 46 games. He has also represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians earlier in the IPL. He is among the 19 bowlers to have claimed a hat-trick in the IPL.

The leg-break bowler also won the Purple Cap for being the leading wicket-taker during the 2022 season, with 27 wickets to his name in 17 games at an average of 19.51 and an economy of 7.75.

The former BCCI President and Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly has guided India in 3 ICC finals. In those finals India lost two of them.

Sourav Ganguly's only victory in an ICC tournament, 2002 ICC Champions Trophy. However, that trophy was shared with Sri Lanka. Dada had two more hits at an ICC championship but unfortunately failed.

Ganguly had taken over the reins of the Indian Team after the infamous fixing controversy. A relatively inexperienced skipper then, Ganguly did well to help India reach the finals of the 2000 Champions Trophy.

The southpaw even hit a century in that game and had the match in control, but the Kiwis chased down India's target of 265 with two balls remaining.

Later, in South Africa, Ganguly led India to the finals of the 2003 World Cup but was blown away by a dominant performance by the Aussies.

No true cricket fan can ever forget the name of the first-ever World Cup-winning captain Clive Lloyd.

Clive Lloyd is credited for leading West Indies to both of its ICC Cricket World Cup titles. He captained the West Indian side between 1974 to 1985 and moulded them into a dominant test-playing nation during his time.

West Indies won both the inaugural ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975 and the second Cricket World Cup in 1979 under Lloyd.

Rohit Sharma is now the only captain to have led his team to the finals of all International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments: ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy and World Test Championship (WTC). And he has achieved that in just three years' time.

In 2023, India qualified for the WTC final and the ODI World Cup final, losing to Australia on both the occasions. The next year, in 2024, India won the T20 World Cup under Rohit by beating South Africa in the final.

The leader who changed the face of Indian Cricket holds the second position in the Most ICC Finals as captain list.

From winning a T20 and an ODI World Cup to taking India to the top of Test Cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has done it all for the Indian Cricket Team. Apart from test mace, India has won three ICC trophies under his leadership.

Dhoni's journey of being a successful captain began when he led India to the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup win in 2007. However, his most significant achievement as the captain of the Indian Cricket team came in 2011.

Australia's sheer dominance over other cricketing teams is nothing new. For decades, Australia has been executing out-of-ordinary performances and winning trophies for the country. Out of all the cricketing countries, Australia has the most ICC trophies.

Till now the Aussies won 10 ICC trophies. Australia is the only team to win 6 ICC World Cups. The most successful team in the Cricket World Cup clinched the trophy in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2023. India sits in the second position on this prestigious list of most ICC Trophies by any team. India won their first-ever ICC World Cup in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. Later again 28 years, the men in blue won the World Cup for the second time under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2011.

The Indian men's cricket team also reached the semifinals four times in 1987, 1996, 2015, and 2019. Meantime, they lost in two finals in 2003 and 2023.

The men in blue won the Champions Trophy thrice. First, in 2002, both the finalists India and Sri Lanka were declared the co-champions of the 2002 Champions Trophy. In the 2013 edition, India defeated England by 5 runs and won the Champions Trophy for the second time in Birmingham. Their latest triumph came via Champions Trophy 2025, as they defeated New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai in the final.

Next on this list is West Indies with a total of 5 ICC trophies. The first-ever ICC World Cup final was won by West Indies in 1975. West Indies once again continued their reign in the next edition of the World Cup as well, in 1979. The Caribbean team also won the Champions Trophy in 2004. Lastly, West Indies became the winner of the ICC T20 World Cup twice; once against Sri Lanka in 2012 and the other time against England in 2016.

Till 2010, the England team has not had any ICC Tournament. But, it was in 2010, when they won their first ICC T20 World Cup against arch-rival Australia. Craig Kieswetter guided them home in the final for their first-ever ICC Trophy. Post that, they have been a phenomenal white-ball team and won two ICC World Cups since then.

In 2019, they won their first ICC Men's ODI World Cup as Ben Stokes made all the difference in the final against England in a match where boundary count helped England to win the World Cup.

England's latest ICC Trophy triumph came under Jos Buttler as they became the first-ever team in Cricket history to hold the ODI and T20 World Cup at the same time. The next ICC trophy won by Pakistan was in the 2009 T20 World Cup where they beat Sri Lanka in the final and won the title by 8 wickets. The most recent and last ICC win of Pakistan is the 2017 Champions Trophy where they defeated India by 180 runs.

With 3 ICC trophies, Sri Lanka sits in 5th position on this list. Sri Lanka won their first-ever ICC World Cup in 1996 where they played against Australia in the final hosted in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. They went ahead to win their next ICC trophy in the 2002 Champions Trophy. The winner of the tournament is actually both India and Sri Lanka as both the finalist teams were declared as co-champions.

The last time Sri Lanka won an ICC Trophy was when they defeated India in the 2014 T20 World Cup hosted in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Dhaka.

The New Zealand cricket team has won a total of 2 ICC trophies since they started competing in tournaments conducted by ICC. The Kiwis won their first-ever ICC Trophy in the 2000 Champions Trophy. Nairobi hosted the final of New Zealand vs India where New Zealand won the match by 4 wickets.

The next ICC Trophy won by the Kiwis was the ICC World Test Championship. Once again, New Zealand played against India in the final of an ICC event and clinched the trophy in the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship final.

Australia scored a massive 469 in the first inning as Steve Smith and Travis Head scored tons for the Aussies. The first-inning score proved to be too much for India as they scored only 296 in the reply and Australia put more pressure with 270 in the second inning.

Despite starts for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, India failed to get close to the score and eventually suffered the defeat. 

With this win, Josh Hazlewood, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc became the only players to win all ICC Trophies.

Pat Cummins and Australia's dream run continued as they won the ICC Men's World Cup for a record sixth time in 2023 defeating India, again. In one of the most visited and watched World Cup finals in Ahmedabad, Australia defeated India by six wickets.

Despite a great start with the bat, India lost captain Rohit Sharma and post that kept on losing wickets. They could only score 240 in the first inning and though Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami tried their level best, Travis Head's excellent ton (137) took Australia over the line. Head was player of the match in back-to-back ICC Finals.

9. T20 World Cup - India (2024)

India finally broke their jinx of ICC finals after beating South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados. They clinched their second T20 World Cup title as Rohit Sharma's men defeated the Proteas team by seven runs in the final.

Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47) played some solid knocks to take India to the highest total (176) in a T20 World Cup final. Though South Africa were cruising for an easy win, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Arhsdeep Singh managed to pull things back for India with the ball. Virat Kohli was adjudged the player of the final and Jasprit Bumrah was named the Player of the tournament for his 15 wickets in the tournament.

India made it back-to-back global cricket tournaments with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy final in Dubai.

Chasing 252 against the Blackcaps, India reached home in 49 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The spinners put up a splendid show, helping India restrict the Blakcaps for 251 for 7 after the side latter team won the toss and opted to bat first. 

Kuldeep Yadav (2 for 40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2 for 45) picked two wickets apiece while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami scalped one wicket each. Daryl Mitchell (63) and Michael Bracewell (53) played crucial knocks for the Blackcaps. 

In the chase, India got off to a flying start, thanks to Rohit Sharma's dominating 76. Shreyas Iyer (48) and KL Rahul (34 not out) also played crucial knocks as India edged past New Zealand to win the Champions Trophy for the third time.

This was India’s second consecutive ICC title win - it had won the T20 World Cup crown in June last year. India has now won two ODI World Cups, two T20 World Cups and three Champions Trophy titles.
