India's tour of Sri Lanka has been very disappointing for the hosts so far. The fact that India has made it so one-sided even with their second team shows their bench strength. Although the Indians had a disappointing finish to their batting, they made it up with a dominant display in bowling. The Men in Blue emerged victorious by 38 runs and took a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's four-wicket haul in the second innings sealed the deal for the visitors.

SL VS IND: Team News and Form Guide:

Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka failed to deal with some of the best IPL players in the opening match of the T20I series. Moreover, they are without the top scorer in the LPL - Danushka Gunathilaka (suspended for bio-bubble breach while on tour in England). Batting was a major disappointment in the first T20I for Sri Lanka. However, not many changes are expected to be made. Bhanuka Rajapaksa could replace Dhananjaya de Silva. The bowling line-up is likely to remain unchanged.

BCCI has confirmed that opener Prithvi Shaw and middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav are set to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) to join India's Test squad. However, no details were provided concerning whether the duo will miss the remaining two T20Is or not. In case Shaw and Surya don't play the rest of the series, Paddikal and Gaikwad are their ideal replacements.

IND vs SL: Five Sri Lankan bowlers to take more than six wickets in an ODI against India; Jeffrey Vandersay joins an elite list

Sri Lankan mystery spinner Jeffrey Vandersay became the only fifth Sri Lankan bowler to take six wickets in an inning in ODI cricket against India on Sunday in Colombo. Jeffrey Vandersay joined bowlers like Muthiah Muralidaran to join the elite list. Muthiah Muralidaran was the first Sri Lankan bowler to take six wickets against India in an ODI inning.

Jeffrey Vandersay first dismissed Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who tried to go for a reverse sweep and was caught at backward point by Pathum Nissanka after a solid 64 from 44 balls. Then, he got rid of Shubman Gill, who went for a big drive and only managed to knick the ball to first sleep where Kaminu Mendis took a screamer to give him the second wicket.

In the same over, he trapped Shivam Dube in front of the wicket who could not understand the variation and missed the ball completely. Virat Kohli found it hard to judge the spin of the ball in his next over and Jeffrey Vandersay had his fourth wicket soon.

Shreyas Iyer was his fifth strike and then clean bowled KL Rahul to get this sixth. With the wicket of KL Rahul, he joined the elite list of Sri Lankan bowlers to take six wickets in an inning against India in ODIs.

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary Mohan de Silva has resigned after the national team's disappointing run in the ODI World Cup and especially after the disastrous loss against India. Sri Lanka lost to India by a massive 302 runs in Mumbai on Thursday. They are virtually out of the semifinal race. Ranasinghe blamed the selection committee and the SLC administration for the debacle in a statement.

The SLC administration led by Shammi Silva called for a rport from the team management over the Wankhede disaster which saw the side being all out for 55. Silva was elected uncontested, his third successive term at SLC. His current term was supposed to expire in 2025.

Sri Lanka will play their next game against Bangladesh in Delhi on November 6. They have only two wins from seven games so far.

Mohammed Siraj bowled a brilliant six-wicket spell to help India outplay Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final of Asia Cup 2023 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. India claimed their 8th Asia Cup title. Rohit Sharma led the Indian team to victory after skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bat. Sri Lanka: 50 (15.2 overs) | Bumrah - 7-21-6

Skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first. But the decision went all wrong as the Lankans had to wrap up their inning under just 50 runs. Bumrah started with the bowl and picked up Kusal Perera's wicket in the third delivery of the first over. Siraj then came into play and went on a riot. He picked up four wickets in the fourth over and became the first Indian to do so. He also matched the milestone with the former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas for the quickest ODI five-for, reaching the feat in just 16 balls.

Hardik Pandya picked up three wickets for three as India wrapped Sri Lanka's batting order for just 50 runs. This is the lowest ODI Cricket total by a team against India in the Cricketing history.

India: 51 (6.1 overs) | Shubman Gill - 27(19), Ishan Kishan - 23(18)

Shubman Gill was the expected one to come into bat but alongside him, it was Ishan Kishan in place of Rohit Sharma. Both the batsman understood the assignment and completed the job in the seventh over. Shubman Gill scored 27 runs in just 19 deliveries and stayed unbeaten till the end alongside Ishan Kishan who scored 23 runs. It was expected and India celebrated their 8th Asia Cup title.

"Yeah was a great performance. To come out and play like that in the final shows the mental character. Great start with the ball and a clinical finish with the bat. I was standing in the slips, and something we take pride in - our seamers have been working really hard. Very very clear in their mind. It was good to see that. Such a performance we will cherish for a long time. I never thought it was going to do that much. Comes down to the skillset of individuals. Siraj has to be given a lot of credit. Rare for seamers to move the ball in the air and off the pitch. He's coming off age. We did everything we could achieve as a team in this tournament. Look forward to the series that is coming up in India, and then the World Cup. The way Hardik and Ishan batted in that pressure situation against Pakistan, and then KL and Virat got hundreds. The way Gill has been batting. Guys have stood up at various stages."

- Indian Captain, Rohit Sharma

"It was an outstanding bowling display from Siraj. I thought it'd be a good pitch for batters, but overcast conditions played a part. Tough day for us at the office. We could've tightened our technique and would've helped batters settle in and free their arms later. Lots of positives. The way Sadeera and Kusal batted against spin, Also the way Asalanka batted. These three will score heavily in good batting conditions in India. We know how to bounce back from tough situations. We came into the final beating good sides. It's a big plus. Players will continue good cricket from the last couple of years. I would like to thank the supporters who came in numbers. Sorry about the fact we disappointed you. Still thanks for the great support. And congrats to the Indian team."

- Sri Lanka Captain, Dasun Shanaka

Rain delayed the match after Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat against India in the Asia Cup 2023 Final. India picked Washinton Sundar in the playing XI in place of the injured Axar Patel. On the other side, Sri Lanka included Dushan Hemantha in place of the injured Maheesh Theekshana.

Sira's riot began with the wicket of Nissanka. The in-form Samarawickrama was then trapped leg-before for a two-ball duck before Charith Asalanka became the next target. De Silva didn't let Siraj complete the hat-trick but he returned with a brilliant delivery that ended as a caught-behind wicket.

Siraj continued his impressive spell and bagged a five-wicket haul. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka lost his wicket for a four-ball duck in his third over. Mohammed Siraj also equaled former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas for the quickest ODI five-for, reaching the feat in just 16 balls. Vaas achieved the milestone against Bangladesh in 2003. He ended with six wickets after picking up the wicket of Kusal Mendis.

3.3 Siraj to Samarawickrama - OUT: A huge appeal for lbw and the umpire didn't take any time to raise his finger. The ball-tracking showed it would have gone on to hit the top of the leg stump.
