IPL 2021 Points Table: RCB Qualifies for the Playoffs

RCB became the third team to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2021. Also, KKR comebacks to winning ways against SRH and stays at 4th points of the IPL 2021 Points table

Royal Challengers Bangalore became the third team to qualify for the playoffs after CSK and DC. RCB qualifies yesterday after they successfully defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs. As Punjab stays at 6th position of the IPL 2021 points table. However, Maxwell was the star with the bat and Yuzvendra Chahal with the bowl. In the second encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders won a thriller in the last over. Shubman Gill top-scored for KKR with the bat and Tim Southee, Mavi, and Varun stars with the bowl.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first against the Punjab Kings. Kohli has played with the same playing xi. However, Punjab Kings made a total of 3 changes on their side. As Fabian Allen, Deepak Hooda, and Nathan Ellis miss out and Sarfaraz Khan, Harpreet Brar, and Moises Henriques come in the side.

The First innings from Bangalore :

Coming to bat, RCB openers Paddikal and skipper Virat Kohli started well in the powerplay overs. Also the opening duo made a 50+ run partnership. When Virat Kohli got out he team was on 68-1 as he scored 25 runs and got clean bowled by Henriques. Daniel Chritian surprisingly came at no three but he fails in the next delivery. However, Christian scored a 1 ball duck.

After that, Devdutt Paddikal(40) also got caught behind by skipper KL Rahul. As Moises Henriques got his third wicket, most importantly he destroyed the top order of RCB. However, Glenn Maxwell came and played a brilliant innings of 57 runs in just 33 deliveries including 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Although, De Villers got run out by Sarfaraz Khan but Maxwell get going as he soon completed his half century. Royal Challengers Bangalore finishes on a highest total on this ground for this season. They finishes on 164-7 in 20 overs as Shami got 3 wickets in the last over ogf RCB's innings.

A Thrilling Chase from Punjab Kings :

Punjab kings has always got in trouble when they have to cchase a total. However, that is because their middle order is not in their best. Menawhile, the opening pairs are count as the most destructive opening pairs of IPL history. KL rahul and Mayank Agarwal started brilliantly as they always do. They again made a strong opening partnership of 91 runs before KL Rahul falls on 39 runs.

Soon Nicholas Pooran got out and so on Mayank Agarwal. However, they lose 3 wickets in just inside 23 runs. It's Yuzvebndra Chahal who put they break on the run chase of Punajab Kings batsman. Chahal dismissed Mayank, Pooran and Sarfaraz to put RCB in the driving seat.

Meanwhile, Garton took in-form batsman Markram's wicket with Harshal get SRK as Punjab lose back to back wickets again. 27 runs were needed in the last two overs. Moises Henriques tried to finish with Harpreet Brar but they fell short by just 6 runs. With RCB becoming the third team to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs.

Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kane Williamson won the toss as he elected to bat first against Morgan's KKR. However, Kane made one change in their side as Umran Malik makes his debut in IPL for SRH and Sandep Sharma misses out. On the other side KKR skipper also made one change as Seifrt misses out and Shakib replaces him in the playing xi.

First innings failiure from Hyderabad :

Hyderabad again fails to deliver against Kolkata as they finishes on just 115 runs in 20 overs. The openers Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha got out early as SRH was on 16-2 in 4 overs. Williamson and Abhishek Sharma tried to build a partnership but both of them fails as SRH were in trouble on 51-4 in 10.1 overs. No other batsman stand out except Abdul Samad. As Samad takes Sunrisers to a marginal total.

Kolkata Knigh Riders bowlers were excellent as Southee, Varun and Mavi got 3 wickets each. Also Shakib got 1 wicket as he bolwed with an economy of 5. Although, Narine was not get any wicket but he bolws in the right baraeas to stop Hyderabad batsman to hit. Sunil Narine bowls with an economy rate of just 3 runs in his spell of 4-0-12-3.

The Chase from Kolkata :

Coming to chase a below average total Shubman Gill batted brilliantly as he scored 57 runs with 10 boundaries. Meanwhile, Gill has scored around 48% runs that KKR needed to chase in 20 overs. However, the opening batsman in form Iyer falls on 8 runs so as Tripathi(7). Nitish rana tried to execute as he plays a great came innings of 25 runs.

Shubman Gill got out when KKR needs 23 runs to win in 2 overs. It was Dinesh Kartik who came and delivered a good cameo innings to steal the game from SRH. Kartik scored 18* runs in 12 balls including 3 boundaries. Umran Malik impresses with the ball as he bowls 145+ constantly.

Kolkata Knighht Riders finishes on 119-4 in 19.4 overs to win the game and go one step ahead of other teams. KKR is now just needed to win their last match to qualify for the playoffs as they have a better net run rate.

After Royal Challengers Bangalore won against Punjab Kings, they became the third team to qualify for the playoffs after CSK and DC. Meanwhile three teams are there to took the 4th and last place for the playoffs. It will be interesting to see whether it's KKR or MI or RR to get a place in the playoffs.
