The most successful franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is none other than Mumbai Indians (MI). Mumbai has won the title a record five times in IPL history under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. However, the start of the 15th season has not gone well for the Paltan. MI have lost their first four games of the IPL 2022 season and now are at the bottom of the table.
Here SportzPoint will discuss the reasons why Mumbai Indians are losing one game to another.

Reason 1: Lack of quality bowlers on the side
One-off the main reasons for MI's defeat is not having a quality bowling lineup on the side. Except for Bumrah and Mills, there are no other experienced bowlers in the lineup. Although Unadkat has some experience, most of the time he went wicketless and gave away plenty of runs. MI is using Pollard as their fifth bowling option when Sams got thrashed by Pat in the previous game.
Moreover, the spin department is not experienced and also does not have plenty of options to choose from. Murugan Ashwin and Mayank Markhande are the only two spinners on the side irrespective of bowling all-rounders. However, Archer is also unavailable this season which is hearting the side badly.
Reason 2: Rohit, Pollard, and Bumrah is out of form
The main pillars of Mumbai Indian's success are Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Jasprit Bumrah. However, they are not in their best form to perform better for the team. Rohit hasn't got enough runs in these four games while Pollard has not done much except the last over brilliance against KKR. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah the most successful bowler for MI has got only three wickets in four games so far. Meanwhile, Bumrah has gone wicketless in three games as he got those three wickets in a single game against RR.
Reason 3: Lack of winning intention
Mumbai Indians are always known as a side that stays hungry for a win in every game. But in this season we haven't seen anything like this in the team environment. The team which fights till the end all time is lagging this year and surrendering early in every game.
Reason 4: Batting collapse in every game
Just like the bowling, the batting department of MI is also struggling in the middle overs. They got a good start in the powerplay but lag in the middle overs and lose wickets at regular intervals. However, it costs the game for the side be it chasing or batting first.
Reason 5: Failure of some big overseas stars like Daniel Sams and Tim David
In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Mumbai Indians bought some big overseas stars like Tim David, Daniel Sams, and Tymal Mills. But except for Mills and Brevis, the other two players are not performing at the level they have known for. In two games Tim David hasn't scored more than 15 runs while Daniel Sams giveaway 130+ runs in just three games while taking only three wickets. In the game against KKR Sams went for a huge 35 runs in an over.

Now, if Rohit and his blue army want to get back into winning ways then the first thing they need is a contribution from each of the players. Then the most important thing is Rohit Pollard both have to get back into their natural game. Bumrah has to take regular wickets in crucial times. And lastly, the overseas players and all the bowlers have to contribute more. But, the question is when will Mumbai Indians get their first win of the IPL 2022 season?
