The final decision of choosing the host country for the upcoming IPL 2022 has been taken. Finally, India is hosting the entire tournament this year after about 2 years. Though India hosted IPL 2021 the venue changed later due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly confirmed in an interview with Sportstar that the group league matches of IPL will occur in Maharashtra; Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. The decision for the playoffs venue will be taken later. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad is preceding while taking the decision of choosing the venue.
Sourav Ganguly said on Wednesday, "It will be held in India this year, until and unless the COVID-19 hits the roof. So far, it has been decided that the IPL will be played in India. As far as venues are concerned, we are looking at hosting the matches in Maharashtra - Mumbai, and Pune. We will then take a call on the venue for the knockout stages."

Bengaluru will host the mega auction 2022 on February 12-13, including 2 new teams. UAE was the host of IPL 2020 and the second leg of IPL 2021. BCCI finalized 4 home venues to reduce travel this year; Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and MCA Stadium in Pune. This decision of limiting venues will also help in maintaining the bio-bubble.
