Kolkata Knight Riders' star all-rounder Andre Russell became the fastest to score 2000 runs in IPL in terms of balls faced. With his unbeaten 49 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, he now has 2030 runs. However, Chris Gayle remains the fastest to reach 2000 runs in 49 innings.

Andre Russell reached the 2000-run milestone in 81 innings. But Chris Gayle was the fastest to reach the mark in 49 innings back in IPL 2013. KL Rahul is the fastest Indian to achieve the milestone in just 60 innings. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record in IPL 2020. However, Russell remains the fastest to reach the mark in terms of balls faced.
In his 97-match IPL career, Russell has scored 2030 runs at a strike rate of just 179.17, facing just 1133 balls, the highest amongst all.

As for the match, it was his unbeaten 49-off 28 that made the difference. He stitched together a 63-run stand with Sam Billings after KKR were down to 94/5 in 11.3 overs. His knock that included three boundaries and four fours helped KKR post 177/6 in 20 overs.
"It is good to finish strong. They were bowling very well. The seamers were hitting the yorkers. I was a bit miserable, but I said let's just stick with it since I know if I stay till the end we can get 170. We are definitely trying to make sure we give ourselves the best chance"

Russell delivered with the ball once again, scalping three wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs. His all-round show helped KKR register a 54-run victory to stay alive in the Playoff Race. The man of the show also bagged six awards including the man of the match trophy.
