IPL 2023: Cameron Green confirms his availability for the IPL 16 mini auction

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green confirmed on Monday that he has registered for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The IPL mini-auction for the next season is to be held in Kochi on December 23, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. Many fans expect teams to go after Green and place high bids for him because of his all-round abilities and the fact that the 23-year-old has plenty of cricket to offer at the highest level.

"I have registered for it. It will be an exciting opportunity," Green was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au on their 'Unplayable' podcast.

"Speaking to a lot of guys, especially in the WA (Western Australia) set up about their experiences in the IPL, they speak so highly of it. They speak about the quality coaches that you are around, the quality players that you are around. They are all the best in the world at their craft."

"It is a craft that I have not been exposed to too much. I am so open to wanting to learn as much as I can and that is probably one of the best environments to learn in."

Green said

But a highly likely dive into the most cash-rich cricket league on the planet has not put an end to his Test ambitions and hunger as his father Gary has been helping his son practice via a bowling machine ahead of the first Test against West Indies, which will start from November 30.

"I had a few sessions on the bowling machine basically trying to change my contact point," Green said. "In T20 cricket, you are meeting the ball so far in front of you, so you get that full swing."

"It is a challenge for all guys that do chop and change (formats). I am just getting exposed to it now."

"He would normally never use the bowling machine," Green said about his father, who helped his son practice via throwdowns. "I just thought it was going to be a long session ... I just wanted something consistent and (to) look after Dad's shoulder."

"It feels like you are playing a different game, playing white-ball cricket to red-ball cricket" - Cameron Green

After sitting out for two final ODIs against England earlier this month, Green is spending a lot of time honing his craft in Test cricket, a format in which he has turned into a highly-valued prospect in such a short time.

"It feels like you are playing a different game, playing white-ball cricket to red-ball cricket," said the right-hander who has represented Aussies in just 21 limited-overs matches.

"It feels like you need a few hours to just really get back to the basics. I use my dad to throw 60-kilometre (per hour) half volleys for a few hours. It is getting back to the basics, getting your timing right - not facing Mitchell Starc bowling 140 (kph) at your back hip," he added.

Shreyas Iyer, the IPL 2024 winning captain received a 26.75 cr bid from Punjab Kings, who had released most of their players during the retention and wanted a captain in their squad. Along with him, Punjab Kings with the highest money in the purse before the auction, were responsible for three of the top 10 most expensive bids. They first brought back their fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for INR 18 cr and after Shreyas Iyer's bid, they made Yuzvendra Chahal the most expensive spinner in IPL history.

Meantime, the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders surprised everyone after buying back Venkatesh Iyer for INR 23 cr. They nearly fought a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore to bring him back to Eden Gardens.

Jos Buttler was another marquee player, who was supposed to be big in the auction and he was Gujarat Titan's highest bid of the season at INR 15.75 cr. KL Rahul, went to Delhi Capitals for INR 14 cr, which everyone thought was another case of RCB not going all-out for a player.

Trent Boult reunited with Jasprit Bumrah at Mumbai Indians, after the five-time champions decided to spend most of their money on retaining their core group of players. The Kiwi pacer was sold for INR 12.5 cr. Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood also attracted the same amount of money from RCB, who were looking for a good fast bowler, after they let Mohammed Siraj go in the retention and auction as well.

Recently Shami has featured for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh and it looks like he is not far from bowling his best. Teams like Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans will surely go for him with cash in the bank. But, it is likely that if he comes up at the beginning of the auction, Shami will surely go for more than INR 10 cr with multiple teams bidding for him.

Akash has been one of the for India beside Jasprit Bumrah in some recent test series and will surely be one of the key bowlers to watch out for in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as well. Earlier Akash was trusted by Virat Kohli and RCB in the Indian Premier League and do not be surprised if Kohli and the team go for him in the auction as well.

Akash has listed himself in the INR 1 cr bracket and will come in the auction in the second set of fast bowlers.

After some useful contributions with both bat and ball, Shahbaz spent three years with RCB and eventually was bought back by them in IPL 2023.

However, after a not-so-good IPL 2023, he was traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Mayank Dagar. In IPL 2024, Shahbaz scored 215 runs at a strike rate of 129.5 1 and took 7 wickets in 16 games.
