In the very first over of Saturday's second match at Wankhede, Deepak Chahar got hamstring injury. Chahar came in to bowl the first over, felt a problem in his leg after the 5th ball. After that, CSK physio came on the field. Chahar left the field after bowling the last ball. It appeared to be a hamstring injury. However, no official information has come regarding this yet. Only after it comes to the fore will it be known how serious the injury of this right-arm fast bowler is.

On the other hand, Ben Stokes reportedly suffered a ankle injury. Stokes suffered pain in his heel post practice session at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. He has to rest for 10 days. While Moeen Ali was not well to take part in the game as he is suffering from food poisoning. That's why CSK were without all-rounder Stokes and Moeen Ali in the previous game against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.

Now as per a report, Chahar will remain on the sidelines for some time and the team will miss his services in IPL 2023 for a while. It adds that Ben Stokes will remain out of action for one week. But Moeen Ali is likely to play the next game. In place of these two Englishmen CSK have brought in an experienced batter from the city Ajinkya Rahane and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius in their playing xi.

However, a win would take CSK to the top of the table and they would need all the help that they can get. Meanwhile, even in the absence of Chahar, Stokes and Moeen Ali, CSK defeated the record IPL champs without many complications. Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane were on song with the ball and the bat respectively to guide their side to a much-needed second win of their campaign.

Q.
How much money do the teams have to shape up their squad?
A.
Each team has a total purse of INR 120 crore but some of that has already been spent on retaining players before the IPL 2025 auction. Punjab Kings have the biggest purse - INR 110.5 crore - to spend at the mega auction, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have INR 83 crore, Delhi Capitals (INR 73 crore), Gujarat Titans (INR 69 crore), Lucknow Super Giants (INR 69 crore) Chennai Super Kings (INR 55 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 51 crore), Mumbai Indians (INR 45 crore), Sunrisers Hyderabad (INR 45 crore), and Rajasthan Royals (INR 41 crore).
Q.
How will the bidding work?
A.
The Mega auction will have 5 phases: 1. Marquee Players: Top players will be divided into 2 groups of 6 and auctioned. 2. Capped Players: Experienced players will be auctioned by specialization (batters, all-rounders, wicket-keeper batters, fast bowlers, spin bowlers). 3. Q.

The six players could be bought by retaining ahead of the auction or the franchises can use the RTM option to buy the player. The RTM option will work like this: if a player is about to be bought by another franchise rather than the franchise he played for in IPL 2024, the player's previous franchise can join in the end of the bidding process and buy back the players using the RTM option, but they will need to match the highest bid. After that, the franchise that made the winning bid will be given another opportunity to raise the bid to whatever amount they wish. In that case, the player's previous team will have to match the increased bid to buy back their player. Here are the eligible RTM options for each team: CSK: 1 (One capped or uncapped) RCB: 3 (One uncapped and two capped/ three capped) SRH: 1 (One uncapped) MI: 1 (One uncapped) DC: (One capped and one uncapped/ two capped) RR: None available. IPL 2025 probable retention list of players

A mega auction is to be held before the IPL 2025 season. This auction may take place in late November or early December this year.  But before that, all the 10 franchises will have to prepare and submit the list of their retained and released players. Its last date is tomorrow (31st October).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently issued new rules regarding retention. According to this, a franchise can retain maximum of 6 players. If a team retains less than 6 players, then in that case the franchise will get a chance to use the Right to Match card during the auction.

Speculations have started even before the official list of retained players is revealed. If reports are to be believed, Gujarat Titans (GT) may release Mohammed Shami and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul can join the IPL 2025 auction pool.

Let's take a look at which players all 10 franchises can retain.

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 has started from Thursday, but the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team will start its campaign from Friday. India will face New Zealand in its first match of Group A.

In statistics, the New Zealand team's record against India has been good, but the Indian team has come into this tournament fully prepared and has the power to beat any team on its day.

The role of spinners will be important

There is every possibility that India will play only two fast bowlers in the match against New Zealand and will have to rely more on spinners. India has exceptional variety in the spin department. The attack will be led by off-spinners Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil, leg-spinner Asha Sobhana and left-arm spinner Radha Yadav. The deteriorating pitches may help India's spinners, who are the team's strong suit.

New Zealand team can give a surprising performance in the tournament

The New Zealand team also has a good mix of experienced and young players, due to which the team's claim is strong. Captain Sophie Devine, experienced all-rounder Suzie Bates, and experienced fast bowlers Lea Tahuhu and Leigh Kasperek form the backbone of the team. Young all-rounder Amelia Kerr is also an important part of the team and the New Zealand team can give a surprising performance in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Mandhana is in great form

India will be hoping for significant contributions from its top players 35-year-old Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma. Shafali and Mandhana are in great form. They scored in their last international match in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in July but India lost to the hosts in the final.

Mandhana has scored three half-centuries in the last five T20 innings. However, Harmanpreet's performance has been somewhat disappointing and her form is essential for India's top and middle order.

India will aim to end title drought

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who is probably playing her last T20 World Cup, has been witness to several near misses and disappointing moments of the title, including the defeat against Australia in the final in Melbourne in the T20 World Cup 2020. Like in the past, this Indian team is also full of talent.

Defending champions Australia have six T20 World Cup titles, while India are waiting for their first title. New Zealand are two-time runners-up and a win against them can be taken as a sign of being in good shape strategically and mentally. It will be important for India to start with a win as Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are also in this group.
