IPL 2025, CSK vs KKR: CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history | sportzpoint.com

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), two of the most successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), are known for their resilience and batting prowess. However, even the mighty yellow army has had its share of forgettable outings.

After their shocking collapse to 103/9 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday in IPL 2025 at Chepauk, we revisit CSK’s five lowest totals in IPL history.

1. 79 all out vs Mumbai Indians, Mumbai, 2013

CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history: 79 vs MI, 2013 | sportzpoint.com

CSK’s lowest IPL total remains the 79 all out against Mumbai Indians in 2013. Batting second at Wankhede, CSK were chasing only 140, but they were dismantled by a relentless Mumbai bowling attack, with Mitchell Johnson and Lasith Malinga leading the charge.

The innings folded in just 15.2 overs, and Mumbai chased the target comfortably, handing CSK a heavy defeat that still stands as their worst batting performance.

2. 97 all out vs Mumbai Indians, Mumbai, 2022

CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history: 97 vs MI, 2022 | sportzpoint.com

Mumbai Indians feature again in CSK’s lowlights, this time in 2022. At Wankhede, CSK’s batting lineup faltered against Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith, collapsing to 97 all out in 16 overs.

With no significant contributions from the top order, CSK struggled to build partnerships, and Mumbai sealed an easy victory in the chase.

Daniel Sams picked up 16/3 while Riley Meredith took 27/2. Jasprit Bumrah also picked up one wicket, giving away only 12 runs, including one maiden over.

3. 103 for 9 vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai, 2025

IPL 2025, CSK vs KKR: CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history | sportzpoint.comOn April 11, 2025, CSK faced a tough outing at home against KKR. Sent bat first by KKR, they were outplayed by KKR’s spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy on a slow Chepauk pitch.

Early dismissals derailed the innings, and CSK could only manage 103/9 in 20 overs. KKR chased the total with ease, marking CSK’s third-lowest score in IPL history and the lowest at their home.

Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets for KKR, while Sunil Narine picked up three wickets.

4. 109 all out vs Rajasthan Royals, Jaipur, 2008

CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history: 109 vs RR, 2008 | sportzpoint.com

In the IPL’s first season, CSK endured a batting collapse against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.

Sohail Tanvir and Shane Warne exploited the conditions, bowling CSK out for 109 in 19 overs. The batters failed to counter Rajasthan’s disciplined attack, and the hosts chased the modest total without much trouble.

Sohail Tanvir returned with 6/14, which is still the best bowling figure in IPL history.

5. 109 all out vs Mumbai Indians, Chennai, 2019

CSK's five lowest totals in IPL history: 109 vs MI, 2019 | sportzpoint.com

Mumbai Indians make their third appearance on this list, this time at CSK’s home ground in 2019.

Lasith Malinga and Krunal Pandya led a clinical bowling effort, restricting CSK to 109 all out in 17.4 overs while chasing Mumbai's 156-run target. Despite playing at Chepauk, CSK couldn’t find rhythm, and Mumbai capitalized to secure a convincing win.

Lasith Malinga picked up 4 wickets for Mumbai, giving away 37 runs. In the meantime, Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets, only for seven runs.

Punjab Kings’ uncapped opener Priyansh Arya blazed his way to a 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings, setting a new record for the fastest IPL hundred by an uncapped player in the tournament’s history.

Arya's knock not only enlisted him among the uncapped players' list, but he also became the player to register the fourth-fastest IPL ton ever.

Here is the list of the fastest IPL century by an uncapped player.

IPL 2025: Priyansh Arya Smashes Fastest IPL Century By an Uncapped Player | sportzpoint.com

Priyansh Arya, the 23-year-old left-hander from Delhi, turned Mullanpur into his own backyard by creating and breaking multiple records. Dropped early, he made CSK pay with five sixes in six balls, racing to his fifty in 19 balls before notching his ton in just 39.

Known for hitting six sixes in an over in the Delhi Premier League last year, Arya was bought by Punjab Kings in the mega auction. The young opener has now proved why he was rated so high during the auction.

Only in his fourth IPL match, Arya scored the fourth-fastest IPL ton and also became the player to score the fastest IPL century by an uncapped player.

Before Arya broke his record, Patidar's 49-ball ton was the fastest by any uncapped player. This inning gave him the nickname of "spin destroyer" among the RCB fans. This also cemented his place as one of the key players for RCB in future.
