Ahmedabad franchise already has finalized the players before the 2022 IPL Mega Auction. Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill are all set to play for the Ahmedabad franchise from the upcoming IPL 2022. CVC Capital Partners bought the franchise in October 2021.

The two new teams of IPL; the Ahmedabad franchise and the Lucknow franchise got a chance to pick up 3 cricketers each ahead of the IPL mega auction to build their team from scratch. On the other hand, the existing teams got the option of retaining a maximum of 4 players.

According to a report of ESPNcricinfo, the Ahmedabad franchise will sign the all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, and the Indian top-order batter Shubman Gill in the upcoming IPL mega auction. Also, Hardik Pandya is supposed to lead the team. It will be an absolutely new experience for him to be a captain of a franchise.

The franchise decided to rope in Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan for the same amount; INR 15 crore. On the other hand, a young batter Shubman Gill will be roped in for INR 7 crore. As a result, the Ahmedabad franchise will enter the auction with a purse of INR 53 crore

Meanwhile, the CVC Capital Partners bought franchise has already finalized their coaching staff and members. The former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra will be the head coach, the former Indian head coach Gary Kirsten is likely to be the mentor of the team, and the former Indian battle Vikram Solanki is likely to be the batting coach of the franchise.

Vijay Hazare was the first Indian batsman to score two hundreds in a Test match. He made this record in the 4th test of India tour of Australia in 1948. Despite not having the match result in their favour, this particular knock by Hazare is remembered for the quality and efforts for winning.

This day marked the beginning of a new record for India, defined by the benchmark set by Hazare.

Rahul Dravid, a master of grinding down opposition attacks, is the only batter, after Gavaskar, to score two hundreds in a test match multiple times. He stepped out of the ordinary records by scoring it 2 times in a span of six years.

Dravid's first twin hundreds came in 1999 against New Zealand (190 & 103), where he was just 10 runs short of turning one into a double century. In 2005, he scored two hundreds in a test match against Pakistan, which also highly contributed to India's victory in the match.

The fearless Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar, is the first captain to record two hundreds in a test match. He also holds a special record of scoring twin hundreds 3 times in his career, which is the highest by any Indian batter.

Gavaskar had taken over the captaincy for the first time after his 1976 apperance as a stand-in captain during a New Zealand tour. His two centuries in both the innings were instrumental in India drawing the test match against a strong West Indies side.

2. Virat Kohli (115 & 141) vs AUS | 2014

Virat Kohli showed an extraordinary display of batting in the Adelaide test against Australia in 2014, scoring two hundreds in a match. He was the first visiting batsman in 53 years to score two centuries in one test in Australian soil.

This was Kohli's captaincy debut, where he etched his name into the record books. He was the only centurion, as well as overall highest scorer in the match, who single-handedly kept India on the run. Despite his heroic efforts, India fell short of 48 runs.

However, a record like this, coming from the most successful Test captain for India is a moment of pride for the nation.

Young gun Shubman Gill became the latest Indian captain to score a test double century, with his mammoth, record-breaking 269 against England at Edgbaston. 

With his 269, he also broke the record for the highest score by an Indian test captain in a test inning. 

Gill, only in his second test match as the test captain, achieved the feat. Moreover, he also became the only Indian captain to score a test double ton in England and the second Indian captain to reach the milestone in overseas conditions. 

5. Sachin Tendulkar | 1

The great Sachin Tendulkar has registered six double hundreds in his entire test career, out of which one came during his captaincy period. In an Ahmedabad test between India and New Zealand in 1999, Tendulkar smashed 217 runs in 344 balls, including 29 fours in the first innings of the game.

Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi was well-renowned for his captaincy more than his batting. He had scored 2793 runs at an average of 34.9 in the 46 Tests he played, with 6 centuries and 16 half-centuries.

His highest score of 203* is the first double century by an Indian captain in Tests. 

Batting at number 4, Pataudi scored a double ton against England in Delhi in 1964, which had 23 fours and 2 sixes. The match was drawn eventually.

Pataudi, also known as Nawab Pataudi Jr., is considered to be one of the most successful Captains that the Indian Cricket team has ever had in its history. He led the Indian team in 40 Test matches, out of which 12 had been won by the team. 

3. Sunil Gavaskar | 1

Sunil Gavaskar is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen to have ever played the game, though not as big a name in captaincy.

He scored 205 in the first innings against the touring West Indies team as a captain in 1978. 

At his home ground in Mumbai, Gavaskar toiled hard against the West Indies bowling up. The second-best from the Indian team in that inning was 52 from Chetan Chauhan. 

Despite a double ton from Gavaskar, India drew the match.

2. MS Dhoni | 1

MS Dhoni’s highest score is a knock of 224 runs off 265 balls against Australia, which came in a 2013 Test at Chennai. The legendary Indian captain, who is among the greatest skippers in cricket history, registered the highest Test score by an Indian wicketkeeper to help the team end with a first innings score of 572.

The Captain Cool raced up to 200 from 231 deliveries, with Australian spinner Nathan Lyon his guinea pig in the fixture. In all, his innings is said to have spanned just six hours.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has the record for the most double tons as a test captain. Kohli scored 7 test double tons as the captain of the Indian men's cricket team. 

His first double ton came as the captain of India in 2016 against the West Indies, away from home. In that same year, he scored another two double tons, one against England and one against New Zealand, both coming in India. 

In 2017, Kohli scored three double tons, one against Bangladesh and two against Sri Lanka. His career-best of 254 and final test double ton came in 2019 against South Africa in Pune.

Indian Women's batter Smriti Mandhana became the latest batter to score international centuries in all formats of the game. With her maiden T20I ton against England in Nottingham, Smriti has now become the sixth Indian and the first Indian woman batter to have the achievement.

Smriti Mandhana played a sensational 112-run inning from just 62 balls, which included 15 fours and 3 sixes. This is also the highest score by any Indian Women player in T20Is. The previous best was Harmanpreet Kaur's 103 against New Zealand in 2018. 

Earlier in the day, Harmanpreet Kaur was ruled out of the first T20I of the series as a precaution taken by the team after she suffered a head injury during the practice game against the ECB Select XI. Sneh Rana handed the debut cap to left-arm spinner N Shree Charani. 

Harleen Kaur also scored a quick-fire 43 from 23 balls, to help India score 210/5 in the first inning.
