Lowest Scores in IPL (2008 - 2023)
- The record for the lowest IPL totals goes to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Coincidentally, they also hold the record for the highest IPL score. RCB were bowled for 49 runs in just 9.4 overs by Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2017. RCB features six times in the list of top 25 teams with the lowest-ever scores in IPL history.
- Rajasthan Royals is next with a 58-run total in 15.1 overs, playing against RCB of all teams. No wonder RCB is often called the strongest and the weakest team of IPL.
- Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore's clash in IPL 2023 again resulted in a dismal score from RR's side. In match 60, RCB restricted RR to 59 runs in 10.3 overs while chasing a target of 172.
- Delhi Daredevils occupies the fourth and fifth positions, having been bowled out for 66 and 67 runs respectively, both in the 2017 IPL.
Royal Challengers Bangalore- 49 runs (vs Kolkata, Eden Gardens 2017)
Bangalore holds the record for the lowest total in the Indian Premier League. Chasing a target of 132 runs on 23rd April 2017 at the Eden Gardens, none of the Bangalore batters reached double-figures, with Kedar Jadhav top-scoring with 9 runs. Coulter-Nile, Woakes, and Grandehomme picked up 3 wickets each.
Rajasthan Royals- 58 runs (vs Bangalore, Cape Town 2009)
On 18th April 2009, Rajasthan posted the second-lowest score in Indian T20 League history against Bangalore. They struggled against the Bangalore bowlers and were bowled out for just 58 runs in 15.1 overs. It was the lowest Indian T20 League score for 8 years before Bangalore's debacle with the bat against Kolkata in 2017.
Rajasthan Royals- 59 runs (vs Bangalore, Rajasthan 2023)
Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs in Match 60 of IPL 2023, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. Chasing a target of 172 runs, RR were bowled out for only 59 in 10.3 overs, with Wayne Parnell taking three wickets for RCB, and Michael Bracewell and Karn Sharma scalping two dismissals each. Shimron Hetmyer top-scored for RR with a knock of 35 runs off 19 balls. Initially, half-centuries by Faf du Plessis (55 off 44 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (54 off 33 deliveries) took RCB to 171/5 in 20 overs. Adam Zampa and KM Asif took two wickets each for RR.
Delhi Capitals- 66 runs (vs Mumbai, Delhi 2017)
Delhi features twice in the list of the top 5 lowest scores in the league. In 2017, Delhi recorded the fourth-lowest total in Indian T20 League history. Batting first, the batters struggled against the swing and accuracy of Punjab bowlers and were bowled out for just 67 runs in 17.1 overs. Corey Anderson was the inning's top scorer with 18 runs in 25 balls.
